Explore the Los Haitises National Park on a boat tour from the Caño Hondo port. Admire the red mangrove forest and the San Lorenzo Bay, and visit caves with pictographs from the indigenous communities that lived in the area 750 years ago.
Meet your guide and set off from the Caño Hondo port on a boat with life jackets. Cruise through the red mangrove forest until you reach San Lorenzo Bay. Admire the collection of huge limestone mountain islands called Mogotes, which are home to over 700 species of plants and many wetland birds.
Venture deeper into the park to explore caves such as the Cueva de la Arena and Cueva de la Línea. These caves were used as shelter by the Taino Indians and, later, by hiding pirates. Look for drawings by Indians that decorate some of the walls.
