I booked well in advance, a couple of months before the trip, but everything worked out perfectly. The airline office exchanged my Trip reservation for fastboat tickets. No questions asked, everything was perfect.

I was choosing carriers blindly because there were no descriptions. We took the Golden Queen one-way—it was great, with air conditioning (except the office opened at 7:00 AM, not 6:30 AM as advertised). We took the Angel Express back—no air conditioning, the fans didn't work—I wouldn't recommend it.

We took a speedboat with a transfer from Ubud (it was cheaper than taking a taxi). The driver arrived on time and took us to the ticket office, where we helped get tickets. The speedboat departed on time, and the ride was about 40 minutes. I highly recommend it.


