Reviews: Buenos Aires Small-Group City Tour

This tour showed us a good overview of this amazing city, including the influences that made its history, architecture, and culture what it is - old and new. Our guide was very informative and interesting. We walked through several areas that allowed us to see and feel the heart and vibe of the city. My friend who had been there before recommended we try to get to La Boca and Caminito, calling it a really fun shopping area. We went there but quickly walked through a street and a couple of the houses-turned-shops, with no time for shopping. Instead, at the end of the tour, we were left at a very modern and expensive shopping place that could have been anywhere in the world. Otherwise, we really enjoyed and recommend this tour.

This was so much fun! We basically had a private class with wonderful instructors, where we learned a short routine. They gave us snacks, and recorded our dancing so we could show it off to our friends on social media. The dinner and show was fun too! Definitely recommend, especially for the price.

Reviews: Gaucho Day Tour Ranch at an Estancia from Buenos Aires

What an absolutely fascinating experience! We had the best time touring this gaucho each in San Antonio. Our wonderful tour guide, Alejandra, picked us up with her driver from our hotel in Buenos Aires at the exact time that she specified. The drive to San Antonio de Areco was most pleasant, with Alejandra giving us a detailed history of the gauchos and showing us pictures and books on the relevant aspects of the subject and area. She was full of good information and answered all our questions about Argentina in general. I enjoy talking to local tour guides about the sociopolitical history of the countries we visit, and Alejandra did not disappoint. She took us to the quaint downtown of Areco and showed us the city center and Museo Draghi, which was so fascinating. Meeting the actual artist was a bonus. We drove on to the ranch where we were greeted with fresh empanadas and cold drinks. The empanadas were out of this world! I opted for the horse back stroll around the ranch afterwards which was pretty rustic. No instructions were provided before the ride which were fine by me since I’m accustomed to riding, but I thought that a novice would find that daunting. Especially because one of the gauchos leading the group had a jumpy horse that kept veering off the trail and had to be controlled with expertise. Animals can be unpredictable! There’s an option to ride the wagon too which is more tame. Alejandra was by our side after the ride was over. She showed us where the lunch was going to be served and took us for a quick peak in the foyer of the beautiful house at the center of the ranch. We also got to see the huge Pailla that was lit up and various meats were being grilled by this very nice man who showed us how it all worked. It smelled amazing! Alejandra helped us find the best table at the veranda of the house. The set up was elegant and beautiful. We ordered a bottle of Malbec from Mendoza, which was amazing and went well with the grilled meats. The options are plentiful and there are several sides to choose from is well. Even vegetarians are accommodated nicely. There were several beautiful resident dogs that kept us company throughout the tour. After the meal, we gathered out in an opening in front of the beautiful house to enjoy a traditional dance/singing show by the gaucho performers. It was beautifully done and somewhat interactive when they invited us to join in in learning the steps and dancing along in the group. Everyone enjoyed it! Alejandra found us the perfect cup of Matè (popular tea made w Yerba leaves) to experience in the traditional cup and straw. Such a cool treat! Soon after a horse whisperer presented a most memorable show with a beautiful horse that followed instructions of his master and was basically like putty in his master’s hands. The audience were mesmerized. I loved the fact that we were allowed to approach/pet the horse afterwards and take photos as well. What a treat! I also got the chance to ride a bike around the premises. The Nikes are well maintained and look cute with their bright colors. Although, the grounds are not very conducive for biking, but you can get a good workout pedaling around if you like it. Our ride back was equally pleasant. Our driver (sorry, I forgot his name) drove carefully and safely even though it started raining along the way. Alejandra helped us stop along the way and find a nice riding hat that I wanted to buy before leaving and some cool souvenirs that I had my eyes on. They safely dropped us off at the front of our hotel and said good byes. I want to take this opportunity to thank Alejandra again for a most enjoyable tour/day spent at Estancia. What a memorable experience! Highly recommend!
