The Palace is very well preserved, although restoration is still ongoing. Some rooms with interesting paintings were under renovation, which limited our visit. An audio guide is recommended. The gardens are very natural, in keeping with Sisi's taste, and not at all French.

Our tour guide was amazing! He was so knowledgeable! It turned out that he plays in the theatre so he had all the information and was able to present it in a great way engaging everyone. One of the best experiences with a guide that I’ve had. The travel from Budapest to Gödöllö was also nice - great driver, nice woman who was a tour guide for the Spanish part of the group. She spoke English to some extend and full respect goes to her for trying to explain some things to us even though it was very difficult for her! We knew in advance that we would be travelling to the royal palace with a Spanish group and Spanish guide so everything was well described and organised.
