The overnight bus from Hakodate to Sapporo that I booked was quite comfortable, even though I couldn't fully lie down, and the bus drove very smoothly. Most importantly, the customer service was amazing!! They were very patient and repeatedly checked the bus status for me. I highly recommend it if you don't mind being tired and want to save time and a night's hotel money.

I'd give this JR Pass a 99 out of 100. It covered 6 days across Sendai, Aomori, Hakodate, and Lake Tazawa (Akita), saving me half the cost. The only drawback is that there's no ticket exchange at Sendai Airport, meaning I had to buy a ticket for the airport line.

After landing at the airport and clearing customs, I went straight to the manual counter in Terminal 1 to exchange my tickets and pick up the remaining travel tickets. I thought it would be troublesome, but it went very smoothly.
