My brother and I booked this tour and felt like we had an amazing full experience of hualien’s surroundings. Not only was it luxurious and relaxing, our tour guide Mr Chen was also fantastic. Although it’s unfortunate Taroko was so badly affected by the earthquake last year, I still felt like we got to see as much as we could off the trails and had a great day!

🥹Bad luck! It was a cloudy day. The tour was rescheduled, and even though the shop moved the departure time an hour earlier, we still didn't catch any whales. The chances are higher in summer, but in spring, on cloudy or rainy days, you won't see a single one.

Conrad Rangali Island truly lives up to its reputation as a luxury island; the environment, hotel facilities, and service are all superb. There are even Chinese-speaking staff, so not understanding English isn't a problem. Because it comprises two islands, a large and a small one, staying for several days won't get boring. At night, we often see manta rays playing under the bridge between the two islands. The staff told us that they stop seeing them after the rainy season begins in May—we were so lucky! Even luckier, we saw dolphins while watching the sunset! The weather was great during our stay, and the second night had a truly beautiful sunset. The beachfront is right outside the back garden of the beach villas; lying there watching the sunset was absolutely stunning. The terrace of the overwater bungalows overlooks the vast Indian Ocean and even has a jacuzzi. My husband said he didn't want to leave… However, Conrad Rangali Island isn't the best snorkeling spot; most of the coral was dead, but there were many beautiful fish. Eating on the island is very expensive, but the ambiance is beautiful, and the food is decent. Don't expect great value for money; just looking at the beautiful scenery is enough to make you feel good!


