This was not only a cooking class, but also a deep dive into Chinese, and more so, Sichuan culture, and cuisine. Jerry, our guide, was the most exquisite, professional, funny, and easygoing person, on a professional, and human level. He explained everything in detail, about the culture, cuisine, spices, teas, and more. He wand far and beyond. I cannot recommend this workshop enough. I’m a cook, and I mostly cook Asian cuisine, and this class gave me even more insights into the culture, and various preparations. Thank you Jerry for answering my (many) questions, and for making this day memorable. The highlight of my trip!★

I really liked the panda breeding facility. In the summer, the pandas are kept in glass enclosures in air-conditioned spaces. We watched the pandas eat fruit and bamboo for about 14 hours, but each enclosure varied.★

The exquisite and mysterious exhibits at the Sanxingdui Museum are captivating. Special thanks to the guide, Ms. Wu Wei, whose vivid explanations helped us better understand the ancient Shu Kingdom's sacrificial culture and better connect the Sanxingdui exhibits with the Classic of Mountains and Seas. We are filled with anticipation for the future excavations at Sanxingdui.★

The time at the painting class was wonderful. We first received some jasmine tea and also organic mandarins. After some nice chatter and the lovely tea we went to paint with Mrs. Wang. First she showed us how to hold the brush and how to make the basic strokes. After that we worked on the painting. It is possible to choose from four different paintings. We went for the hydrangea. When we struggled, we got help from the teacher. The communication worked very well. Mrs Wang speaks English and there was additional support from Cheryl, who translated. The pictures will be a great memory of a lovely time. I can only recommend this course, it is a great introduction into traditional Chinese art.★
