Props to Carlos! He was giga chad! My dad and I came to Lisbon by cruise and I knew I wanted to see Pena Palace & Regaleira - but the ship didn’t offer an excursion to Pena Palace - and none of the group tours fit the very tight schedule we were on. So I booked a private tour so we can be picked up at the port and have the tour accommodate us.
Carlos was our guide and he was beyond wonderful - we were lucky to have him navigate us there thru tricky traffic and tons of crowds. He picked us up in a spacious new van on time, right outside of the cruise terminal. Knowing our time was limited, he took us to the very best spots at the palaces, staying with us the whole time, all the while narrating the history of each spot, stopping people from cutting in front of us, and even standing in line and telling us to either sit or go take pics so we don’t waste our time in line. That alone was an above and beyond experience.
We got back to the ship right on time too!! My only advice is that I wish they communicated better, perhaps at the time of booking, about needing to buy tickets in advance online for both palaces and the shuttle up to Pena Palace. I thought we would just buy tix there - but no, if you do, the tix will sell out. I found out the evening before the tour only bc I messaged the company asking where we were meeting our guide - and they asked if I purchased my tickets. - I was lucky to get tickets at a time that worked out. Aside from that small hiccup, Highly recommend this tour and Carlos!!★

The tour was unique and very informative and interesting. I appreciated the balance of seeing one of Sintra’s palaces in detail alongside the incredible natural beauty in this area. Our guide David was friendly and warm and answered all of our questions. As a solo traveler, this was a fun way to meet a few other people traveling on their own.★
