Wow! I bought an e-SIM for free. Using tripcoins, or cashback. I didn't have much, so it just covered the cost of the plan. I use an adapter for a regular Xiaomi 12-inch phone. I had to install it in the primary SIM slot and the 9esim app. I took a screenshot of the barcode, loaded it into the app, and everything registered automatically. I waited for it to load, and that was it. It's not hard to figure out!★

Best price I could find to get an eSIM in advance for my trip to Thailand with a local number to receive calls and SMS. Once in Thailand you can download the True- dtac app and change ownership of the card to your passport. Then you should be able to get another data package even at a lower price with the same number. Top up the card in 7-eleven with cash.★

I used it on my trip to Chiang Mai. I had no trouble getting around the city. I also ventured into the mountainous areas, where the signal was poor, making internet searches and social media slow. However, the map was not a problem.★

I used this in KL, Bangkok and Shanghai. Overall the signal was ok. Sometimes we do get a drop out but it’s not often. We managed to use all social media platforms with this eSIM at Shanghai. Only thing is if you want to hail a ride you’ll need a number for it in china.
