The JR Pass Sanyo & Sanin Area Rail Pass (7-day e-ticket) can be redeemed at the Shinkansen office counter. I initially went to the rail pass counter, but the staff told me to go to the Shinkansen counter instead. This pass is very useful. During this 7-day trip, I visited 3 locations: Fukuoka, Kokura, and Hiroshima. I took 4 Shinkansen trains: Hakata <-> Kokura/Hakata <-> Hiroshima, and the Miyajimaguchi ferry (the ferry to Itsukushima costs an extra 100 yen, the return trip is free) and unlimited JR rides in Hiroshima. It was really cost-effective. The only misconception is that the Kagoshima Main Line JR from Kokura to Moji Port is in the Kitakyushu region, and the Sanyo & Sanin Pass does not support this section of the JR. But the fact that the Shinkansen starts in Hakata and ends in Shin-Osaka is amazing.Trip.com picks
