Be sure to bring a water bottle if you head on to Pompeii. It was insanely hot in 2019.
I also brought a snack banana, apple and an egg… despite the amazing lunch the fruit helped with my heat induced headache.
Must wear comfortable shoes! I chose driving moccasins because I wanted my Italy photos to look as nice as the places I visited.
I absolutely loved the guides, both the driver and the Pompeii guide.
It was a good day.
This time around I’m going to book tours around the coast since I’m “training” from Rome to Sorrento then Sorrento to Florence. I’ve enjoyed *** tours in the States but I do love my Italy :)★

Alfredo was extremely friendly and a great tour guide. Everything was setup perfectly and easy process throughout. Only note would be when taking the train from Roma to Napoli there are two Napoli stops and make sure you wait for the second stop.★

This Pompeii tour gave an overview of life in Pompeii. Our guide did a nice job of escorting us on a walking tour through Pompeii, teaching us the history of the area and learning about how the people who lived in the time of Pompeii conducted their lives. It's a short tour at 1.5 ish hours. While we saw some of the more significant sites within Pompeii, I had been there 20+ years ago and knew that there were a number of things that we didn't see (perhaps because they were further away and would require more walking than the <2 hour tour would permit us to see?) such as the Garden of Fugitives, the brothel (which our guide had mentioned to us but didn't take us to see), and the House of the Vettii which has some interesting decorative frescoes on the walls. So plan on spending extra time after the tour to visit these (and potentially other) additional sites while you're in Pompeii.
