The Cliffs of the World is quite far from Riyadh city center, about a two-hour drive one way from the STC metro station (meeting point). The last leg of the journey is entirely through the Gobi Desert, with no established roads or internet access, making navigation impossible. Only experienced drivers can navigate by remembering the route and following the tracks in the desert. Therefore, self-driving is completely impractical; a tour is essential.
This tour, costing around 300 baht, departs at 2:30 PM. On the way there, there's a 20-minute stop at a gas station for water and restrooms, followed by a 10-minute stop at an antelope reserve. However, it seems the antelopes are artificially bred and can only be viewed from behind a fence. The return trip departs after sunset, without any stops, taking you directly back to the STC metro station. A simple meal is included – coffee, tea, and snacks. Enjoying the sunset while admiring the cliffs is a truly wonderful experience.
The Cliffs of the World are indeed spectacular, making this tour quite worthwhile. The two-hour visit, from 5 PM to 7 PM, perfectly covers the most beautiful time of day: sunset. Some people online say that some tours include a full meal instead of just a simple meal, like eating hand-grabbed rice while watching the sunset, but from what I've seen, they're generally at least 600-700 yuan. So, actually, booking this tour for around 300 yuan should be enough. You can eat your meal back in the city around 8 pm.
(The photos don't look that impressive, but seeing it in person is truly spectacular and breathtaking, giving you a feeling of grandeur, like standing on a mountaintop overlooking all the smaller peaks.)★
