There were too many tourists. On weekends, you need to take a bus (NT$15) from parking lot number 9 to Jiufen; tour buses don't go on that route. There are handwashing basins to the left of the Kongming lantern shops for children to wash their hands. The tour guide is fluent in multiple languages; the group members are from Germany, France, Japan, and [unspecified countries]. So although we chose a Mandarin-speaking tour, it was actually conducted in English.★
