Staying in a beachfront villa is a must. The Ayana Resort, where I stayed first, is highly recommended. The environment is absolutely beautiful, not crowded, the accommodations are excellent, the food is great, and the seawater spa is relaxing and fun. The downside is that there's only a small beach, and you can't swim in it. The Laguna Resort, where I stayed later, is more mainstream, similar to Yalong Bay in Sanya. It has a long coastline and clear water, but it's mostly shallow with seaweed, so swimming isn't possible. However, you can catch crabs at night. The hotel service was excellent, and the staff were very nice.
The attractions I visited were similar to online reviews. Tanah Lot Temple is a must-see; the scenery is first-rate and grand. The Ayon River rafting is worth trying; the current is quite strong, and it's fun. The other attractions weren't particularly interesting.
