Mileseva Monastery

Mileseva Monastery is located in the Mileseva River valley and is one of the important holy sites of the Serbian Orthodox Church, founded by King Stefan Vladislav I. The church belongs to the Raška architectural school and incorporates Byzantine style. Its single-nave floor plan gradually widens from west to east, and the dome is supported by stepped arches, a layout that is quite distinctive among medieval churches. The monastery is famous for its 13th-century frescoes, created by highly skilled painters of the time and considered one of the representative works of European painting from that period. Among them, the "White Angel" is widely known: it is part of a fresco depicting the women at Christ's tomb, where the angel in white sits by the tombstone with a serene and gentle appearance. It has now become one of the iconic images of Serbian culture and was even transmitted to North America via transatlantic satellite television in the 1960s. The church also preserves realistic portraits painted while Saint Sava was alive, group portraits of members of the Nemanjić dynasty, and scenes such as the Last Judgment, which serve as primary sources for studying medieval Balkan art and the history of the Serbian dynasty. King Vladislav moved the remains of his uncle, Saint Sava, from Bulgaria to the monastery for veneration; more than two centuries later, the remains were transported to Belgrade by the Ottoman army and burned, an event that gives this monastery a particularly special place in the hearts of the Serbian people. The monastery is located in a valley surrounded by mountains and forests, and it is still frequently visited by pilgrims and travelers today.

Located in the mountains, it is a Byzantine church building built between 1234 and 1236. It was once the burial place of Saint Sava's remains and is an important spiritual and cultural center of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It contains the well-preserved famous medieval fresco "Snow Angel", which is considered one of the masterpieces of European medieval painting.

Uvac Special Nature Reserve is a natural place located near Novi Pazar in western Serbia. It is indeed a fantastic place, with two viewpoints from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Uva River and its meanders: a fantastic place. In addition, it is possible to walk around the viewpoints and enjoy different views of the river. We were here in October 2019, when there was not much water in the river, so it was not the most beautiful view on the river, but the view was beautiful! It should be great in spring or summer!

The elegant wooden village in Serbia, where all the houses are built entirely of wood, was the filming location for the movie "Life is a Miracle." It's a great place to relax and unwind, and I highly recommend a visit.

I discovered a stunning hidden gem in Zlatibor, a ski resort in Serbia! ❄️ You absolutely must experience the world's longest golden gondola cable car! 🚡 📍Gold gondola Zlatibor 🏠 Miladina Pećinara bb, Zlatibor 31315 Serbia ⏰ Open daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (extended during the ski season) A 20-minute cable car ride takes you directly to the 1400-meter summit. The entire journey is breathtakingly beautiful, with a pristine, snow-covered landscape! Every snapshot is a winter wonderland! ❄️ There's also a gorgeous café at the summit. Be sure to try their signature latte! ☕️ Looking out at the snowy scenery is truly heartwarming. Tip: Remember to bring gloves and a scarf, as it gets extremely cold at the summit!

Free to visit, both day and night, and the nighttime lighting is beautiful. Although Belgrade is relatively safe, it's recommended to arrive early and leave early in the evening. I went before 10 PM on a Monday, and there were still quite a few people. Instead of walking along the river, I exited the park northeast and entered the old city's food and beverage district, which was safer. [Scenery] Good [Entertainment] Good [Value for Money] Good
