Orchid Lake Tourist Resortofficially launched in May 2012 and officially opened for trial operation on September 30, 2016. The resort boasts beautiful natural scenery, including over 3,000 acres of beautifully shaped, tranquil lakes, over 4,000 acres of pristine tea gardens, pure and natural wetlands, babbling brooks, fertile and picturesque ecological farmland, and lush natural forests. The resort's road network and scenic spots are all designed around the theme of "orchids." The planned and designed scenic spots—Lakeside Villas, Red Pottery Reflections, Sea of Flowers and Rippling Clouds, Tea Plantations, Flowing Water, Dew-Scented Zen, Water Margin Trees, Orchid Island Retreat, Mulberry and Elm Trees, and Fairy Ridge Song—are like ten beautiful, elegant, and fragrant orchids blooming on this "orchid" of the resort. These ten scenic spots, resembling butterflies and orchids, are connected by a road network around the orchid-shaped lake bay, creating a landscape imagery of flowers growing from streams and orchids and lakes reflecting each other.Lanxi · 10.3km from downtown

The ancient city of Lanxi is in the shape of a half-moon, with Dayun Mountain in the east and Lanjiang River in the west. There used to be four gates: Anzheng Gate in the east, Mingde Gate in the south, Qingbo Gate in the west, and Gongchen Gate in the north. Northeast Water Gate, Longli Gate (Water Gate Pier) along the Yangtze River, Liujia Pier and Zhujia Pier were added in the Ming Dynasty. Due to the disaster of war and disrepair for a long time, most of the ancient city walls have been destroyed. The more than 600 meters of city walls that still exist along the river were rebuilt in the seventh year of Ming Zhengde (1512), and the rest were rebuilt in 1995. You can vaguely appreciate the unique features of the ancient city of Lanxi. West Gate Tower Lanxi Ancient City used to have three towers in the south, west and north, all of which were built in the seventh year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty (1512). During the Anti-Japanese War (1939), in order to prevent air raids and facilitate the evacuation of people, the south and north gate towers were demolished together with the east and south city walls, while the west gate tower was retained as a hanging bell because the west city wall along the river was not demolished as a flood protection bank. For alarm purposes. In 1985, the west gate tower collapsed. The existing West Gate Tower was rebuilt in 1995. The main building is on the 2nd floor, standing along the river, with a majestic momentum, which is a good place to board the Range Rover. The residential area in the area from Fuling Lane to Kite Lane to the south of Yan'an Road in the urban area still retains the style of the residential buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This residential community covers an area of about 3 hectares, with mountains and rivers, east-west layout, ups and downs, in harmony with the natural environment. Most of the planes are "three rooms, two rooms and one patio", generally on the second floor, with a wooden structure, gray tiles and white walls. The unique form of Lanxi dwellings has played a certain role in the development of Huizhou dwellings. Alleys In the late Qing Dynasty, Lanxi City had 21 large and small streets and 87 alleys. The alleys such as Tanhua and Zhongxi in the residential community to the south of Yan'an Road in the urban area still retain the characteristics of the streets and alleys of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This kind of alley is narrow and long, which plays a certain role in fire protection. In order to strengthen the rigidity of the two gables, the two gables are connected by rammed walls. This is the innovation of the "lane" by the ancient craftsmen of Lanxi, which can be called a "masterpiece of architecture".Lanxi · 1.7km from downtown

West Lake

West Lake is undoubtedly the epitome of Hangzhou's beauty. The famous "Ten scenes of West Lake" surround its shores, where nature and culture complement each other, forming the core area of Hangzhou tourism. You don't need to visit every attraction - instead, spend half a day or a full day strolling along the lake. However you choose to enjoy it, the experience will surely lift your spirits. West Lake is the core attraction of Hangzhou, surrounded by clouds and mountains on three sides and the city on one side. The Su Causeway and Bai Causeway stretch across the lake, dividing it into several water areas. The lakeside scenery is highlighted by the "Ten Scenes of West Lake" from the Southern Song Dynasty, along with the later "New Ten Scenes" and "Three Additional Scenes," featuring over a hundred attractions along the shore and mountains. Pavilions, temples, pagodas, gardens, causeways, and islands complement the distant mountains and nearby waters, while legends like the Broken Bridge where Lady White Snake met Xu Xian add a layer of storytelling to the landscape. West Lake extends east from Songmuchang in Hangzhou and the north of Baolu Road turning to Shaoniangong Square, passing Baisha Road, Huancheng West Road, Hubin Road, and Nanshan Road to the south of Wansong Ridge, covering all attractions including Wu Mountain, Ziyang Mountain, and Yunju Mountain. To the south, it stretches from Gulou along the eastern foothills of Wu Mountain, Ziyang Mountain, and Yunju Mountain, passing Fengshanmen and Fenghuangshan Road, then following the West Lake water diversion channel to the north bank of the Qiantang River, turning to the Coral Sand Reservoir and ending north of Liufangling. To the west, it runs from Liufangling, Zhugan Mountain, Jiuqu Ridge, and Mingren Ridge to Meiren Peak, Beigaofeng, Lingfeng Mountain, and east of the ridge line of Laohe Mountain. To the north, it follows the foothills of Laohe Mountain (west wall of Zhejiang University), turns 30 m north of Qingzhiwu Road, connects to Yugu Road, Zhejiang University Road, and Shuguang Road, ending south of Songmuchang. West Lake has over 100 attractions, renowned for its "Ten scenes of West Lake", "New ten scenes of West Lake" and "Three reviews · Ten scenes of West Lake". West Lake overview You can explore West Lake on foot, by cruise, on electric bikes, via self-drive, or by riding. Among these, electric bikes are the most convenient and effortless option, with hop-on-hop-off sightseeing vehicles circling the entire lake. Riding along the lakeshore is romantic and leisurely, with many public bike rental spots available. For a boat tour, there are nearly 10 docks around the lake offering various vessels and routes. We highly recommend taking a cruise to Three Pools Mirroring the Moon at the lake center while enjoying the scenic views. Alternatively, you can hail a hand-rowed boat for a more flexible experience with a boatman guiding your tour. North line scenery The north shore of West Lake gathers quite a few attractions, usually starting from the remnant snow on broken bridge at the northeast corner and heading west all the way to Yuewang Temple. You can walk along Bai Causeway to Solitary Hill, visiting cultural attractions like Xiling Seal Engravers' Society, Zhejiang Provincial Museum, Chinese Seal Art Museum, and Zhongshan Park's Crane Pavilion. Enjoy authentic West Lake vinegar fish at Louwailou Restaurant, then cross Xiling Bridge to leave the island - Yuewang Temple and Breeze-ruffled lotus at Quyuan Garden are just a short distance away. If it's a summer day with strong sunlight, it is recommended to stroll along Beishan road, hiding under the dense shade of trees to admire the curve of Broken bridge and the swaying weeping willows on Bai causeway opposite. There are many entrances along the way leading to Precious stone hill, where you can hike for views, and descend to reach Yuewang temple. Yuewang square has many small shops for snacks, and the Impression West Lake show here in the evening is also worth watching. If you have ample time and energy, you can also head to Su causeway from here for a walk to enjoy the panoramic view of West Lake. Southeast coast (Lakeside-Nanshan Road) Another area with a concentration of attractions is the Hubin Road-Nanshan Road along the southeastern coast. Hubin Road is located at the junction between Hangzhou's urban area and the attraction, offering views of West Lake, a dock for West Lake cruises, and the iconic music fountain. The advantage of Hubin Road is its quick access from the attraction to the downtown business district, making it suitable for travelers with a tight itinerary to make a short stop. Head south from Hubin road and walk along Nanshan road, where you can visit attractions like Orioles singing in the willows, Long bridge, Leifeng pagoda, Evening bell at Nanping hill, and Viewing fish at flower harbor. The distance between adjacent attractions is not far, so you can walk or take a sightseeing bus or public transport, which are also convenient. You can arrange a day to visit a few of them according to your preference. Among them, Leifeng pagoda and Evening bell at Nanping hill can be visited in the evening. Listening to the bell at Jingci temple and overlooking the night view of West lake from Leifeng pagoda are both great experiences.China · Hangzhou

The Bund is located along the Huangpu River, stretching approx. 1.5 km in length. As a symbolic attraction of Shanghai, it features a diverse collection of international architectural styles and the stunning night view of the Huangpu River as its highlights. The Bund stands with dozens of classical revival buildings in diverse styles, including the renowned Bank of China building, Shanghai Peace Hotel, Customs House, and HSBC building, recreating the former glory of the "Wall Street of the Far East." Surprisingly, these structures were neither designed by the same architect nor built in the same period, yet they possess a unique harmonious beauty. The Bund showcases various architectural styles, such as French classical, French chateau, and Gothic, which are significant historical sites and representative buildings of modern China, forming a stunning scenic line along the Huangpu River. As night falls, the neon lights on both banks illuminate the sky. Board a Huangpu River cruise or ferry and glide along the river, feeling the gentle breeze. On one side is The Bund, a witness to historical development, while on the other stands Lujiazui, Shanghai's modern landmark. The graceful silhouette of Waibaidu Bridge offers a fresh perspective to admire the beauty of this vibrant metropolis.China · Shanghai

Since ancient times, the ancient city of Wuzhou has been famous in the south of the Yangtze River for its dual-city structure (sub-city and prefectural city). The sub-city was built in the third year of Chuping in the Eastern Han Dynasty (192), and the prefectural city was built in the third year of Tianfu in the Tang Dynasty (903). It was renovated many times during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. After the renovation during the Shunzhi period, it was known as "the city of Liangzhe is the first". It was once a gathering place for government offices, supervisory offices, examination halls, and Confucian temples in history, and it was the political, cultural, and military center of Jinhua in all dynasties. After thousands of years of vicissitudes, the ancient city of Wuzhou has withstood the ravages of war and the impact of urbanization, and the overall structure has been destroyed to a certain extent. However, Bayong Road, Jiufang Lane, Gulouli, and other blocks still preserve about 15,000 square meters of historical buildings. It is the only relatively intact one in Jinhua City, carrying the history and blood of Jinhua. The ancient sub-city is rich in history and culture, and there are a total of 54 cultural relics protection units and registered historical buildings preserved to date. There is one national key cultural relic protection site (the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom's Prince Shi Mansion), four provincial cultural relic protection sites (the Bayong Tower, Yongkang Kaoyu, the former site of the Taiwan Volunteer Corps, and the office of General Li Youbang), six municipal cultural relic protection sites (the former site of Zhejiang Chao, the General Tower, the former site of the Zhenshen Church, the former site of the Gospel Hospital, the Exhibition Hall of the Three Heroes of the He Family, and Mantang Academy), three cultural relic protection sites, and 40 registered historical buildings.Jinhua · 23.3km from Lanxi

Mustard Seed Garden, the former residence of Li Yu, is an antique garden building. Covering an area of 10.5 acres, there are pavilions and pavilions, small bridges and fish ponds, and precious flowers and trees. Although this garden is small, it has been carefully designed and ingeniously arranged, so that it can be seen as large in the small, secluded in the music, elegant in the ancient, and there are no hills and valleys. During the leisure time, you can think of the ancients and embrace the ancients, and you can be self-motivated and inspiring. There is serenity in the music, elegance in the ancient, and there are no hills and valleys. The design of the mustard garden in Lanxi reflects the architectural characteristics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, inherits the architectural style and title of the Nanjing mustard garden, and reflects the simplicity of the mustard garden everywhere.Lanxi · 1.3km from downtown

Lingyin Feilai Peak Scenic Area is located west of West Lake Scenic Area, including Lingyin Temple andFeilai peakTwo main views.Feilai peakNot large or tall, yet it gathers hundreds of statues of bodhisattvas and eminent monks from different dynasties, creating a beauty of fusion. The Lingyin Temple in the mountains is a famous ancient temple in Hangzhou, bustling with incense offerings. Lingyin Feilai Peak Scenic Area itself is not very large, and you can explore it on foot. After entering the main gate, turn left, and you'll see it in no time.Feilai peak, following the forest trail for less than 5 minutes, you'll see the entrance to Qinglin Cave. It's said that the stone slab in front of the cave was once the sleeping bed of Ji Gong, and lying on it is believed to free one from worldly troubles, attracting many travelers to take a rest here. Heading north, the Yuru Cave houses exquisite statues of the Eighteen Arhats from the Northern Song Dynasty, with additional finely crafted statues of the Six Patriarchs of Zen Buddhism on both sides of the cave's eastern entrance. The Longhong cave ahead is commonly known asGuanyin caveInside, there is a rock crevice known as "a thread of sky." Not everyone can see the light passing through the crevice, so you often see people craning their necks to look up. The cliff outside the cave is covered with stone carvings of Buddha statues. At the lower part, you can see the Song Dynasty carving of "the white horse carrying scriptures." The Ligong Pagoda at the entrance of Longhong Cave is the only remaining Ming Dynasty pagoda in Hangzhou. Following the Cold Spring Stream from here, you can also see the big-bellied Maitreya. Opposite the stone carvings stands the famous Lingyin Temple, which is open to the public free of charge but requires real-name reservation in advance, and is still well worth a visit. The statue of Skanda in the heavenly king hall is a relic from the Southern Song dynasty, carved from a single piece of camphor wood, making it extremely precious. The newly renovated Yongfu Temple in Hangzhou is located next to Lingyin Temple. Follow the signs uphill to reach it. Besides the serene ancient architecture, the temple grounds also feature a tea plantation and many ancient trees, offering quite a scenic view. Visitors must return the same way from Yongfu Temple. For those who wish to hike, there is a fork in the path halfway back to Lingyin Temple, leading to Taoguang Temple's exit and onward to Beigao Peak. This route is quiet with few people, making for a pleasant walk. Beigao Peak can be reached by hiking or taking a cable car. At the summit, the Temple of the First Wealth God under Heaven is one of Hangzhou's famous ancient temples.China · Hangzhou

Lingyin Temple, also known as "Yunlin Temple," is located at the foot of Lingyin Mountain on the west side of West Lake. With its serene environment, it is the oldest renowned temple in Hangzhou, preserving numerous exquisite cultural relics from various dynasties. This is the place where Jigong became a monk, and it is said that prayers made here are very efficacious, attracting a continuous stream of worshippers every day. Seventeen hundred years of trials have made Lingyin Temple a treasure trove of history and culture: the plaque inscribed "Yunlin Chan Temple" hanging in the heavenly king hall was written by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing dynasty; the stone pagoda in front of the main hall and the stone sutra pillar in front of the heavenly king hall are relics from the Wuyue period of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms; the temple houses precious Buddhist artifacts such as ancient palm-leaf scriptures, a gilded statue from the Eastern Wei dynasty, a handwritten copy of the "Diamond Sutra" by Dong Qichang of the Ming dynasty, and the wooden dragon sutra from the Yongzheng era of the Qing dynasty. Lingyin Temple is also where the monk "Jigong" (Daoji) was ordained. In the Daoji Chan Master Hall of Lingyin Temple, a statue of Jigong is enshrined, holding a broken fan in his right hand, prayer beads in his left, and resting his right foot on a wine jar. Lingyin Temple is nestled against the Northern Peak and faces Feilai Peak. Though Feilai Peak is not tall, it features numerous fantastically shaped caves and over 340 Buddhist rock carvings dating back to the Five Dynasties period, making it a rare gem of ancient grotto art in southern China. The temple enjoys year-round bustling incense offerings, especially on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month or major Buddhist festivals, when devotees flock from all directions, creating massive crowds.China · Hangzhou

This is the old-fashioned soy sauce workshop in Youbu. It's not very big, and you can see some homemade soy sauce products displayed at the entrance. The prices aren't high either. Youbu Ancient Town is famous for its morning tea and bridges, and there are several other attractions besides this soy sauce workshop and the Langjingshan Museum. Overall, it's a very leisurely trip, and the soy sauce workshop is definitely worth a visit.

The environment is beautiful. The park designed by a designer is different. The cruise ship is worth a ride, the viewing platform is worth a visit, and the Lanhu restaurant is worth a meal. There are not enough amusement facilities. I think a Ferris wheel can be added to overlook the entire lake. It will definitely be very popular.

Lanxi Ancient City is still worth a visit. I went there in the morning. The pancake and fried dough stick breakfast stalls had the flavor of childhood. The Gaotianzi Tower was well preserved. The ancient city was quite ancient, unlike many other newly built "". It was a gathering place for the people in the market, but it was a bit noisy.

My second visit to West Lake was great; the boat tour was excellent. The dock was easy to find, the staff were very friendly, provided clear explanations, and helped with any issues. There were also sightseeing buses, which were nice but a bit pricey. Taking the boat tour and then walking around was both perfectly fine.

Recommended off-the-beaten-path photo spots in the ancient city: **Dongfang Zaobai Bookstore (Baoningmen Branch)** This popular bookstore is hidden under the arch of Baoning Gate. Its design blends ancient style with modern aesthetics, and the second-floor book bar offers excellent views. **Xichun Lane** This lane features six intangible cultural heritage museums and a "cake street," offering experiences related to Wuzhou kiln, paper cutting, and Buddha's hand culture. Compared to the bustling Bayong Road, Xichun Lane is less crowded, and its bluestone paths and carved doorways exude a Jiangnan charm. On rainy days, the wet stone paths reflect the old houses, creating stunning photos when worn in Hanfu. **Jiufang Lane** This ancient lane from the Song Dynasty is now home to niche cafes and handicraft workshops. The old walls are covered in graffiti depicting swallows, koi fish, and girls in ancient costumes, radiating a sense of history. **Gulouli Cultural and Creative Entrepreneurship Park, Area A** This art space, converted from an old factory, is filled with creative installations and graffiti. The park features niche craft shops and cafes, making it a great spot for artsy young people to visit and take photos.

From my hotel near Wanda Plaza, it's a 1.7-kilometer walk to Wuzhou Ancient City. My first stop was the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Prince's Mansion, the residence of Li Shixian, a famous general in the later Taiping Heavenly Kingdom period. The mansion's three treasures—stone dragon carvings, painted murals, and a thousand-year-old pine tree—are well worth seeing. Next to the Prince's Mansion is the Jinhua City Museum, a large-scale museum with a rich collection, offering insights into Jinhua's past. Along the streets of Wuzhou Ancient City are many smaller museums showcasing intangible cultural heritage items and crafts, such as Jinhua ham, paper-cutting, pastries, spring paintings, and traditional Chinese medicine, leaving a deep impression of Jinhua's long history and culture.

Lingyin Temple is a must-visit when in Hangzhou, and it's easily worth spending a full day here. Our tour guide was very experienced and provided clear, insightful explanations throughout the tour. However, keep in mind that the flowers and candles offered for purchase through the guide were on the pricier side.A few critical planning tips if you are visiting soon:1) Temporary Closures: The cable car is closed from July 19 to September 20, and the First Wealth Temple (第一财神殿) is closed from May 25 to November 25.2) Entry Policy: Entry passes are strictly single-use—you cannot re-enter once you leave.3) Timing & Traffic: Plan to arrive before 8:00 AM and leave before 5:00 PM to avoid heavy traffic jams.4) reservation: While there is no separate entrance fee beyond the ticket, you must reserve a slot via WeChat in advance (or secure your reservation directly by purchasing this ticket).Overall, a wonderful experience—make sure to plan your timeline and expectations ahead of time!
