Corinth Canal

Corinth Canalis a unique view that blends human engineering with natural terrain. The canal cuts through the hard rock of the isthmus, directly connecting the Saronic Gulf on the Aegean Sea side with the Gulf of Corinth on the Ionian Sea side, allowing ships to cross this narrow strip of land without having to sail around the Peloponnese peninsula. The canal is approx. 6 km long, the waterway is at sea level with no locks, showcasing the ingenuity of its construction and adding a breathtaking sight to the coastal landscape of Greece. The canal cuts deep into the ground from the surface, forming a narrow and straight gorge, with limestone cliffs on both sides rising nearly vertically, tens of meters above the water.
