Mo'orea is located approx. 17 km northwest of Tahiti and is one of the important islands in the Society Islands. Formed by volcanic activity, it features towering peaks, deep valleys, and dense tropical forests in its center, while its coast is surrounded by coral reefs and azure lagoons. Its unique mountain and coastal landscape makes it one of the most representative islands for natural scenery in French Polynesia. The island has a leisurely pace, with tourist facilities relatively concentrated in coastal areas, making it suitable for both short sightseeing trips and multi-day leisure vacations. Blending the tropical ocean with local culture, it is an ideal destination for exploring the island charm of the South Pacific.Papetoai · 6.6km from downtown
Opunohu Lookout

Opunohu Lookout

3.9
Located just a few miles inland from Paopao, this well-known viewing platform is a higher point on the island accessible by car. From the peak of the observation deck (219m), you can get a bird's-eye view of Opunohu Bay, Cook's Bay, Mount Rotui and surrounding peaks, as well as the valley below. It is accessible by car from the coastal road fork at the top of the two bays, and the road from Opunohu Bay has grazing horses and verdant meadows along the way, winding through the valley of the same name. The Paopao Highway diverges from the coastal road near Paopao Village, passing through the Paopao Valley Pineapple Plantation. The two roads meet not far from the ruins of several ancient temples, then meander up to the top of the observation deck. Not only is there a stunning view at the top, as well as a concrete stand for standing viewing, and maybe a few chicks and a rooster or two pacing nearby.Papetoai · 326m from downtown

Cook's Bay

This charming bay is also known as Paopao Bay. There are two charming bays in the north of Moorea, and Cook's Bay is located in the north and east. Due to the dramatic location of the bay, to enjoy the view, stand on the east or west coast, or sit quietly in a boat in the lagoon. Bay Background The often-photographed shark-toothed tell Mouaroa rises behind the bay, with Mt. Rotui towering to the west. There is no actual township here, just a few shops, restaurants and inns scattered along the northeast corner. At the end of the bay in Paopao Village is Paopao Village, where there is a market, but it is only open during the day (Monday-Saturday 6:00-17:00, Sunday 4:30-8:00), which mainly deals in food and local handicrafts crafts. Near the market is the VanderHeyde Art Gallery. Experience a baptism and the village's St. Joseph's Catholic Church, on the west coast, is decorated with frescoes of Gabriel's Angels. If you want to experience a wonderful spiritual baptism, you can come to Mass on Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, listen to the hymn, and meet the Tahitians who come to Mass before wearing their beautiful dresses.Paopao · 1.8km from downtown

Bora Bora is located in French Polynesia in the South Pacific and is a volcanic island in the Society Islands, often known as the "Pearl of the Pacific." The island's distinctive geographical feature is its dual-layered view: in the center of the island stand two ancient volcanic peaks, Mount Otemanu and Mount Pahia, surrounded by a lagoon with distinct color gradients. The lagoon transitions from light blue to deep blue, a color variation caused by the varying depths of coral sand and the seabed topography. Pristine white sand beaches stretch along the edge of the atoll, contrasting beautifully with the lush volcanic slopes. Overwater bungalows are an iconic accommodation type on this island, allowing guests to jump directly from their rooms into the clear lagoon. The lagoon's rich coral reef ecosystem makes it an ideal spot for snorkeling and scuba diving, where you can observe blacktip reef sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, and hundreds of colorful tropical fish up close, and even encounter dolphins in some areas. Some tours offer snorkeling experiences that allow for close encounters with sharks and rays, providing a unique way to experience the marine ecosystem of the South Pacific. The island preserves a rich Polynesian cultural tradition, with traditional dance, music, and handicrafts passed down through generations. Visitors can experience a traditional Polynesian feast, taste authentic cuisine featuring coconut milk, vanilla, and fresh seafood, and soak in the unique charm of the South Pacific islands.French Polynesia · Nunu'e

This is the west of the two more famous bays in northern Moorea, where in 1777 the grandmother, Captain James Cook, anchored and landed. Although the tourism here is not as developed as Cook's Bay, it is for this reason that Opunohu Bay has become a popular bay for locals. In 1984, Mel Gibson's "Mutiny on the Boat" was filmed here, and since then, most of the Polynesian scenes in films have been filmed in this bay. If you want to come here, you can take a supply ship ashore. Since there is no port here, only huge cruise ships or supply ships will stop here for a short time.Moorea · 5.8km from downtown

PlaceVai'ete is located next to the Papeete Ferry Terminal (Papeete Ferry Terminal), which was formerly the meeting place of the first territorial council and later became the city's nightlife center. When night falls, food truck hawkers start to set up their stalls one after another, and the rich and varied delicacies are sure to satisfy your appetite. In addition, there is a handicraft market on the square, where bands often play and the atmosphere is lively.Papeete · 27.7km from Moorea
Maraa Grotto

Maraa Grotto

Maraa Grotto is a cave surrounded by lush ferns and dense vegetation, making it a popular attraction on Tahiti island tours. A winding path in the park leads directly here, where visitors can enter to explore or even swim to the Paroa Cave, where the water is clear. If you plan to swim in the underwater cave, we recommend wearing your swimsuit beforehand and bringing a towel. The area around the cave is slippery, so please be careful not to slip while walking.Paea · 36.1km from Moorea

This bay was once a sacred place for the locals, only a few ruins remain, even so it is still considered a sacred place that deserves respect today. The beaches are all made of stone and the sea is rough, but watching the sunset and then resting with a drink in the bay is a unique spectacle. It has a winding mountain range to reach, but it is worth it.

This is a reconstruction of what Marae Arahurahu looked like when it was in use. The large altar area is made of thousands of black lava rocks and has a wall on the back. The two stone statues near the entrance are replicas of the originals in the museum. Guides are available to help explain the significance of the site.
