Herweg Street is to Interlaken what Chang'an Avenue is to Beijing and Nanjing Road is to Shanghai.
Herweg Street is 1,400 meters long. The east end is the East Railway Station and the west end is the West Railway Station. Both sides are full of luxurious hotels, elegant restaurants and various shops. The south side of the middle section of the street is the green Holhemat Green.
Visiting Herweg is a must for Interlaken.
The happiest thing is to look south on the street. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the Jungfrau often shows its heroic appearance in the mist, inviting people who love it to take a photo together.
The most worry-free thing is that there are always tourists speaking Chinese dialects from all over the world on the street, and there are always shop assistants speaking standard Mandarin in shops, especially watch shops. Asking for directions and buying a watch, language communication is not a problem.
The most annoying thing is that there are many public toilets on the street, all of which are advanced coin-operated access control, 1~2 Swiss francs per time. If you want to find free ones, it’s impossible in shops and too difficult in restaurants. Don’t forget to bring a few Swiss francs with you when you go shopping.
