Mount Fuji

Mount Fuji, which means "volcano" in Japanese, spans Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures. This mountain, regarded as the "Holy Mt." by the Japanese, has been dormant since its eruption in 1707. This dormant volcano is a symbol of Japan. Of course, if you want to experience the natural scenery of Mt. Fuji and its surroundings up close, the Fuji Five Lakes area under the northern mountain of Mt. Fuji is a good choice. The reflection of Mt. Fuji in Kawaguchi Lake is a very classic scene, it is worth seeing, the nearby Oshino Hachi The sea is also famous. Peace Park in the southeast is a good choice for viewing Mount Fuji. On a sunny day and there is no cloud cover, you can clearly see the conical peak of Mount Fuji. In autumn and winter, you can also see the snow on the top of the mountain, which is particularly beautiful. Every year from mid-September to mid-October, the top of Mount Fuji begins to snow, and it will not melt until around June of the following year, and the residual snow can even be seen in mid-July. You can climb Mount Fuji in July and August, and the mountain will be closed in other seasons. There are four main mountain climbing entrances on Mount Fuji, namely Fujinomiyaguchi, Sugoguchi, Gotembaguchi, and Fujiyoshida (Kawaguchiko) entrance. The first three are all in Shizuoka Prefecture. It is divided into 10 stages from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain. Each stage is called a "station", and there is a place for tourists to rest. Most tourists take the bus from Lake Kawaguchi to the fifth station of Mount Fuji on the middle of the mountain, and then start from here. mountaineering. Climbing to the top of Mount Fuji, you can see a beautiful volcanic lake formed by two craters, surrounded by 8 peaks. Along the crater tour, there is a weather station, which is the commanding height of Japan. You may wish to take a group photo. There are two shrines, namely Kusushi Shrine and Sengen Shrine. There is also a post office on the top of the mountain, where you can send a postcard to friends and relatives. . In addition, watching the sunrise on Mount Fuji will be an unforgettable and beautiful experience. In addition to Mount Fuji itself, the scenery around the mountain is also very good. There are caves left after the volcanic eruption at the northern foot of the mountain, with various shapes and shapes, and some of them will continue to exhale. Among them, the walls of the Fuyue Feng Cave are covered with stalactite-like icicles, which are called "Wannianxue". The southern foothills is a vast plateau pasture with beautiful scenery all year round, and there are many places for leisure activities, such as camping, swimming and fishing in summer, and skiing and skating in winter.Fujinomiya · 13.6km from Narusawa

Lake Kawaguchi is rich in nature and the scenery varies throughout the year. Cherry blossoms in spring, lavender in summer, red leaves in autumn, and snowy scenery in winter. Regardless of the season, the scenery of Mt. It is famous as a shooting spot for Mount Fuji. In Sanyazaki, where the reflection of Mount Fuji can be photographed, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, Lake Kawaguchi and Mount Fuji can be photographed with the cherry blossoms as the foreground. Chanyazaki is a small cape that protrudes toward Lake Kawaguchi, and on its protruding part stands a small shrine dedicated to the worship of Fuji's deity, "Kinohanakai Yahime". There are about 501 maple trees on the lakeside, and the autumn leaves make up a unique attraction headed by the red leaf corridor. The lakeside decorated with red and yellow makes Kawaguchiko even more charming. The lake water and the red leaves form a beautiful scenery. From the mountains to the lakeside, the charming red maples are closely connected, making it dizzying. Take the Kawaguchiko cruise boat "ensoleile" (from French, meaning the sun) and circle the lake for about 20 minutes. When the weather is clear, you can see Mount Fuji reflected on the lake surface from the boat, which is the famous "reverse Fuji" landscape. Take a ride on an elegant cruise ship and overlook the stunning scenery.Fujikawaguchiko · 5.7km from Narusawa

Oshino hakkai is a cluster of spring ponds formed by snowmelt and rainwater from Mount Fuji that seeps underground and is filtered through lava layers over many years. Legend has it that when Mount Fuji erupted, lava flows altered the local water system, causing the ancient lake to gradually recede and leaving behind only these perennial springs. The eight ponds are scattered throughout the village. The water is exceptionally clear; even at a depth of several meters, you can see straight to the bottom, and the fine bubbles rising from the bed and the swimming fish are clearly visible. Among them, Wakuike Pond is known for its large water volume and deep blue color, while Kagamiike Pond often reflects an inverted Mount Fuji on windless mornings, making it a distinctive spot for photography. Watermills and old houses with thatched roofs are scattered among the spring ponds, creating a typical landscape of a village at the foot of Mount Fuji. The local cuisine also relies on this spring water. Tofu made with the spring water has a delicate texture and can be enjoyed with seasoning, while soba and udon noodles made from flour ground by watermills are also local specialties.Oshino · 11.7km from Narusawa

The fifth station of Mount Fuji is located on the halfway of Mount Fuji. It is a scenic spot that is reached by buses from several stations at the foot of the mountain. Mount Fuji is divided into 10 stages from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain. Each station has a place for tourists to rest, and the bus can go up to the "fifth station" at 2305 meters from a higher point. Starting from the "fifth station", it usually takes a few hours to reach the peak. Fuji Subaru Line (Yoshidaguchi) 5th Station is the most popular among the 5th Stations of Mount Fuji. The end of the Fuji Subaru Line is a good place to view the top of the mountain. From here, the top of Mount Fuji seems to be within reach, and there are many gift shops and restaurants. Okuniwa is a garden located about 2.5km in front of the Fuji Subaru Line's end point (Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station). It is also called "Tengu Garden", and it is said that Tengu came down from the sky to play here. In the garden there are also Tengu Rock and the red torii where the legendary Tengu is worshipped. There are walking trails in Okuniwa that can go around Okuniwa, and there are several scenic spots worth seeing on the way. This is the best place to view Mount Fuji. It takes about 40 minutes for a week's walk in Okuniwa.Narusawa · 9.9km from downtown

Chose to visit the Mount Fuji Instagram-famous spots on Trip.com's recommendation, and I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing and enjoyable experience. The itinerary included memorable locations such as Arakurayama Sengen Park, Hikawa Clock Shop, Oshino Hakkai, Kawaguchiko Lawson, and Lake Kawaguchi Oishi Park—each offering its own breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji. Our tour guide (Hikari) truly made the trip special: not only was he friendly, but he was also impressively patient throughout the day, making sure everyone felt comfortable and had enough time to enjoy each spot. The pace of the tour was just right, allowing for leisurely sightseeing and ample opportunities for taking photos—perfect for capturing those Instagram-worthy moments! If you're considering this day trip, I recommend bringing your camera and a light jacket, as weather around Mt. Fuji can change. The service from Trip.com was smooth and easy, making the whole experience stress-free.

As the cable car slowly ascended, the world outside the window gradually sank below. First, the rows of hotel rooftops appeared, then the lakeside road stretched out like a gray ribbon. Lake Kawaguchi below slowly revealed its full form—no longer just a glimmer of water, but a vast, warm, lustrous piece of jade, carefully cradled in the palm of the surrounding dark green mountains. The moment the cable car passed the treetops, Mount Fuji appeared. It was there, as if it had always been. The snow-capped peak that had required so much effort to look up from the lakeside was now almost level with my eyes. The clouds moved quickly, casting flowing shadows on the conical mountain, and the outline of the snow trembled slightly between the light and shadow, like a long, frozen sigh. At the foot of the mountain, the "Fuji Five Lakes" are like scattered mirrors, with Lake Kawaguchi being the brightest, reflecting the sky and the shadows of the mountains, as well as our slowly moving gondola—we look at the mountains, and the mountains also see themselves in its clear pupils.

Oshino Hakkai is a charming town surrounded by stunning scenery, with a clear view of Mt. Fuji from the village. The history of this place is fascinating, especially the crystal-clear ponds, which are incredibly beautiful. The water is cold and clean, and we enjoyed watching trout swimming around, making it an unforgettable experience. We also tried some local food, including grilled fish, fresh fruit, and sweet treats. Additionally, we purchased some souvenirs at very reasonable prices. Absolutely love this place!

Summer Vacation Itinerary for Kids and Two Elderly People to Kawaguchiko - Day 3 [Smiling face][Grinning face] The day before, we split into two groups and visited the popular Lawson convenience store (Kawaguchiko Station store), the station crossing, and the Oishi Park on the north shore; FabCafe Fuji and Nikkawa Watch Shop in the "Ladder Town" area. The ladies did some street photography, while the elderly enjoyed a relaxing stroll. [Smiling face][Grinning face] On the third day, we were heading back to Tokyo. We bought bus tickets to Tokyo Station two days in advance (approximately one bus per hour from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM). Our hotel was near Tokyo Station. We booked return bus tickets for 1:30 PM; the online and offline prices were the same, and it was still possible to buy tickets two days in advance. Our hotel near Lake Fuji required check-out at 10 AM, and it was very busy, so late check-out was practically impossible. Therefore, we went for a boat tour on Lake Kawaguchi in the morning. It was only 400 meters from the hotel, the boat trip lasted 20 minutes, and cost only 40 yen – a great value! [Smiling face][Grinning face] After breakfast, we packed our luggage and left it at the hotel. The hotel uses a self-service luggage storage system with a transportation card. After swiping the card, one end unlocked a steel cable fixed to the wall, and after locking it, we retrieved our luggage using the transportation card – very convenient. We walked to the pier, where there was a small lounge for waiting for the ship. [Smiling face][Grinning face] The weather was great, and we could see the mountains. We could go up to the second-floor terrace on the deck for photos. If we didn't want to be in the sun, we could go back to the cabin where there was air conditioning. Everyone agreed that this itinerary was excellent. Autumn holidays are just around the corner, so those planning a trip should consider this itinerary. The morning is better for viewing the mountains. There are restaurants, a Kawaguchiko Fuji specialty cookie shop, a cable car, and more near the pier.

Mt. Fuji Day - Everything went incredibly smoothly! I went out to catch the pre-booked bus to Mt. Fuji. I had allowed plenty of time because the travel guides said the boarding point was particularly difficult to find, but it turned out to be very close to my hotel; I just turned the corner and arrived! [Applause] After boarding, I found my seat was in the first row, with an unobstructed view of the bus window right in front of me! [Wink] Probably due to the excellent visibility around Mt. Fuji, there was absolutely no traffic that day. I woke up to find Mt. Fuji completely unobstructed before my eyes! [Please] So happy... A year ago, I watched Keko's "Neon Legend with Shoji" and was instantly captivated by the Mt. Fuji cycling experience... I included it as a must-do on this trip, and God was really kind to me, allowing me to fulfill my dream without any regrets TT I cycled along, stopping frequently, and randomly grabbed many people to take photos for me. Surprisingly, this shrine wasn't mentioned in the travel guides for Lake Yamanaka. I found it on the map myself and went to visit it; it's absolutely gorgeous... so beautiful that I went back there to sit after my afternoon bike ride, truly moved to tears by its beauty. After visiting in the morning, I was about to leave but decided to take a photo, so I went back to "catch" some people. I caught a group of Japanese guys, and after some semi-obstacles communication, I got a pretty good Polaroid photo and a travel photo that made me look taller. But I don't know if my reaction wasn't as enthusiastic as they expected, as they kept asking, "Is this okay?" Dude! The photo you took of me is one of the better ones taken by the others after me! Passing by Shiratori Beach, I saw swans and happened to meet a Japanese couple whose dog was about to fight with the swans—it was hilarious! In the end, the dog was forcibly dragged away by its owner. I then asked the woman to take a photo of me with the swans, and in the final picture, I realized how timid I looked! And then, my absolute favorite Polaroid photo from this trip! A group of girls who were also cycling stopped to admire the scenery. I went up to them and asked them to take a picture of me cycling on Mount Fuji. The composition was perfect, the image was perfect, and there was no overexposure. There was even a gust of wind blowing my hair. Oh, I admired the picture for a long time after taking it [smiling face][smiling face][smiling face]. Out of politeness, I also asked if she needed me to take a picture of them. She happily handed me her phone, and then I realized that a couple behind them were also with them. They were a family! So I took a picture of the five of them cycling with Mount Fuji in the background. One of the girls was very surprised when she saw the photo and kept saying "sugoi sugoi" [winking face]. When we said goodbye, all five of them rode over on their bicycles and gave me a high five. Oh my... I was in a really good mood [back to school season]. Also, while queuing for a restaurant where you can eat while looking at Mount Fuji, I met an adorable dog. I saw its little hat and asked the owner if it was its birthday. The owner said no, it was a carp's purse. It sounded familiar, but my brain didn't immediately register it. So I tried searching to see what holiday it was, and then the owner saw me and jokingly asked if I didn't know what "鯉のぼり" (koi no bori) was [crying emoji]. He then explained it to me in the simplest terms: it's Japanese Children's Day, but it's only for boys? The koi on the chest is a blessing. This shop definitely has a great view, and the pancakes are huge!

Arakurayama Sengen Park is famous for the magnificent view of Mt. Fuji and the five-story pagoda Chureito. There are about 650 cherry trees planted in the park. In spring, you can see the beautiful scenery of Mt. Fuji, the five-story pagoda and cherry blossoms. This scenery with unique Japanese beauty often appears in various travel guides introducing Japan and has become a popular tourist attraction. Directions: Get off at Shimoyoshida Station on the Fujikyuko Line. There are several routes to choose from from the Tokyo area, but all require several transfers. The easiest way is probably to go to Takao Station on the westernmost side of Tokyo and take the Chuo Line to Otsuki, which takes 40 minutes. Then change to the Fujikyuko Line there. After getting off the train, it's a 10-minute walk to Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine. It's another 5-minute walk up the mountain to the pagoda.

Watch the whole video. Japanese commentary. Bring the kids to experience it and he feels it is very fresh. You must book the tickets in advance.
