Casa Loma

Casa Loma Castle was built in 1911 as the private mansion of the famous financier Sir Henry Pellatt. This medieval-style castle cost $3.5 million and took 3 years to build. It consists of ornately decorated suites, 800-foot tunnels, ancient Towers, stables and 5 acres of gardens. Floor distribution: The first floor of the castle is the hall, the second floor is the bedroom and suite, the third floor is the Queen's Rifle Museum, in addition to the underground wine cellar, outdoor garden and high tower. The hall ceiling on the first floor is beautiful plaster and intricately carved, inspired by Elizabethan palaces. The garden greenhouse is a more beautiful place, the floor is Italian marble, and the magnificent stained glass dome is very beautiful. The bookcases in the library hall are high to the ceiling, and the decoration of the banquet hall is also very gorgeous. The second floor is dominated by living rooms, suites and guest rooms. Among them, the Chinese-style suites are furnished with many Chinese lacquered wood furniture and porcelain, and the walls are also decorated with Chinese patterns. On the ceiling of the master bedroom, the delicate blueberry carving is crumbling and very realistic, and the tiger skin rug shows the identity and status of the owner. On the third floor, various guns, weapons and materials are currently on display. The cellar in the basement is now a replica, the corridors are lined with movie posters filmed here, and the audio guide and souvenir shop are also located on this floor. An underground tunnel leads to the stables, garage and greenhouse. Along the narrow spiral staircase, you can climb to the upper floors of the ancient tower, and you can enjoy the city view of Toronto through the small window. Standing here, you can still hear the howling wind.Canada · Toronto

Art Gallery of Ontario

The Art Gallery of Ontario is located in downtown Toronto. Founded in 1900 by a group of private art enthusiasts, it houses over 100,000 works spanning from the 1st century AD to contemporary times, making it one of the large-scale art museums in North America. The gallery building itself is architecturally striking, and visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Toronto from the top floor. The art gallery reopened in 2008 after renovation and expansion led by Toronto-born architect Frank Gehry: the street-facing facade is wrapped in a glass and wooden corridor, resembling a glass ship drifting into the city, with lights shining through the curtain wall at night, making it particularly striking; the wooden spiral staircase in the atrium and the cantilevered titanium spiral staircase outside the tower were also designed by Gehry. At the street corner near the main entrance stands the bronze sculpture "Couch monster" by Canadian Indigenous artist Brian Jungen, while British sculptor Henry Moore's renowned bronze work "Large two forms" was relocated to the lawn of Grange Park on the south side of the art gallery. Floor distribution: The art museum has five floors. Upon entering the lobby, you can see the spiral staircase, a design that fully showcases Frank Gehry's talent. The collection is centered on two main themes: European art and Canadian art. The first-floor galleries display European paintings and sculptures from the Middle Ages to the early twentieth century, featuring works by artists such as Rembrandt, Hals, and Monet. The masterpiece "Massacre of the Innocents" by Rubens, donated by collector Ken Thomson, is considered the museum's signature piece. The Gothic boxwood miniatures he left behind depict intricate scenes within a tiny space, and the lower level also displays over a hundred of his ship models, ranging from merchant ships and warships of the age of sail to modern vessels, spanning several centuries with exquisite craftsmanship, making them worth slowing down to admire. The second floor showcases Canadian art in a concentrated display, featuring Tom Thomson's masterpiece "The West Wind," the Group of Seven's landscape paintings, and Inuit sculptures and prints, offering a comprehensive view of Canada's visual art heritage. Hundreds of works donated by Moore during his lifetime are housed here, with the dedicated Henry Moore Sculpture Centre providing a serene space to appreciate his forms. The upper levels of the south tower focus on modern and contemporary art, including works by Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, and Yayoi Kusama's "Infinity Mirror Room."Canada · Toronto

On clear days, you can even see in the direction of Niagara Falls. Thrill-seekers can participate in the EdgeWalk, an outdoor walking experience around the exterior of the tower at 116 stories high. The tower also features amenities such as the 360 Restaurant, the Maple Leaf Cinema, and a souvenir shop. Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal is located opposite Place d'Armes in Old Montreal. This Gothic Revival church was started in 1824 and completed in 1829, designed by Irish-American architect James O'Donnell. The exterior of the basilica is solemn and majestic, featuring three towering arches on the facade, with statues of Saint Joseph, the Virgin Mary, and John the Baptist standing above the doors. Two towers, each approx. 60m high, stand on either side. The west tower houses a large bronze bell named "Jean-Baptiste," which was cast in 1848. Stepping inside the church, the first thing that catches the eye is the deep blue vaulted ceiling, inlaid with thousands of golden stars. The altar area is decorated with an intricate blend of blue, purple, red, and gold, making it magnificent and solemn. Hundreds of exquisite wood carvings and religious statues are found throughout. Uniquely, the stained glass windows here do not depict biblical stories but instead showcase the local religious history of Montreal. The church also houses a Casavant pipe organ installed in 1891, containing 7,000 pipes. The interior decoration was led by architect Victor Bourgeau and was inspired by Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. In addition, the basilica features a long-running immersive light experience called "AURA," which uses the entire interior of the church as a canvas, blending the beauty and atmosphere of the architecture through sound, light, and imagery.Canada · Montreal

Parliament Hill is located on the south bank of the Ottawa River atParliament Hill, a Gothic Revival architectural complex consisting of the Centre Block, East Block, West Block, and the Library of Parliament. Construction began in 1859 and was largely completed by 1876. A fire in 1916 destroyed the Centre Block, and the rebuilt Peace Tower was completed in 1927 to commemorate Canadians who sacrificed their lives in World War I. The towering clock tower is now a prominent landmark on the Ottawa skyline. The daily Changing of the Guard ceremony and light shows in the summer add a sense of historical depth and modern vitality to this famous Canadian landmark. Old Montreal

Old Montreal is one of the best-preserved historic districts in North America. Founded in 1642 by French settlers along the banks of the St. Lawrence River, it was designated a historic district by Quebec Province in 1964. Cobblestone streets wind through stone buildings dating from the 17th to 19th centuries, where French colonial and Victorian-era architecture stand side by side, making you feel as if you have wandered into an old European city. Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, Place d'Armes, Place Jacques-Cartier, and Saint-Paul Street West form the core sightseeing axis of the old city, where churches, squares, and ancient streets appear in turn. The Old Port area along the river has been transformed into a waterfront leisure zone, where walking paths, cruise boats, and riverside views blend the historic district with modern vitality. This is also a representative district for experiencing the blend of Montreal's English and French cultures, where the architectural fabric left by the French colonial era coexists with remnants of British municipal-style architecture, creating a neighborhood with a rare combination of historical depth and vibrant local life in a North American city.Canada · Montreal

Thousand Islandslie at the outlet where Lake Ontario flows into the St Lawrence River, stretching dozens of km downstream from the Kingston area, with over 1,800 islands of various sizes scattered across the river, belonging to both Canada and the United States. The islands vary greatly in size: the smallest are just a few rocks that remain above water year-round, and some are even small enough to hold only a single house, while the larger ones feature villages and farmland; there is also an interesting local standard for what constitutes an island—a piece of land that remains above water year-round and can support 2 trees counts as an "island." These islands are scattered across the St Lawrence River like stars, resembling a fairytale wonderland.Leeds and Grenville United Counties · 62.9km from Perth

University of Toronto was founded in 1827 and is a well-known public research university in Canada. The St. George campus is the main campus and has no walls, blending into downtown Toronto's neighborhoods. The campus features century-old Romanesque revival buildings alongside modernist new structures, and the contrast between old and new creates a unique charm. Entering the campus and crossing the open green leads to the main building of University College, a mid-19th-century Romanesque revival structure that is one of the campus's iconic views, with its heavy stone exterior and arched doors and windows conveying the solemn dignity of a classical university. On the side of the lawn, Hart House is another classic building, housing reading rooms, galleries, and student activity spaces, and its Gothic revival style is worth a close look. The campus is dotted with sculptures and green spaces, and it is common to see students in small groups discussing or relaxing on the lawn, creating a strong academic atmosphere. Strolling across the campus along King's College Circle to the Hart House lawn offers a concentrated way to appreciate the campus scenery shaped by generations of interwoven architecture.Canada · Toronto

Casa Loma Castle, from a distance, looks like a pile of toy blocks, its gray stone walls covered in vines, some windows dark and empty. Inside, the corridors are long and dark, the rows of armored soldiers still seem to carry the smell of rust. The old horse-drawn carriages in the stables have crooked wheels, their shafts covered in dust. The rooftop terrace is too windy to stand on; the city of Toronto stretches out below, a hazy gray expanse. An old man sits on a bench, flipping through a newspaper, the wind rustling the corners of the pages. When I came out, the sky had overcast, and the castle looked even older under the gray clouds.

Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica is a pinnacle of North American Gothic architecture. Completed in 1829, this religious landmark, with its twin towers, flying buttresses, and pointed arched portico, evokes the majestic silhouette of a medieval castle. Its deep blue dome is adorned with golden stars, its carved walnut altar is covered in 24-karat gold leaf, and its 7,000-pipe organ and stained glass windows weave sacred music. Witnessing both Celine Dion's wedding and the state funeral of a former Canadian prime minister, its AURA light show, a 45-minute spectacle, juxtaposes 19th-century stonework with digital art, creating a magical space-time experience. From its stained windows in the morning light to its nighttime spectacle of sound and light, this "Little Notre-Dame" remains a timeless landmark where faith and art intertwine.

Parliament Hill is the office of the Canadian government and is usually closed to the public. Now there is a light show every night at 5:30, which projects pictures with constantly changing colors and music. The whole show is about 10 minutes long and is played in a loop all night.
