East Lake Scenic Area is located in the east of Pinghu City, and it is a city park worth visiting in the local area. Along the lake, there are "Eight Sceneries of East Lake" named Nancun Shudui, Hanzhu Ninghui, Jiulong Xizhu, Xipu Yujin, Beiyuan Musang, Anshan Xiaocui, Pagoda Chuihong, etc. There are many greening and cultural landscapes. There are very complete supporting hotels and catering facilities, and people often take wedding dresses by the lake. It is suitable for spending half a day or a day leisurely strolling along the lake. The East Lake Scenic Spot is not big, and there are very few tourists. Compared with Hangzhou West Lake and Jiaxing South Lake, it has less charm. The special feature is the watermelon lamp in the lake, which will light up at night, which is very beautiful. The street lamps are also in the shape of watermelons, which shows the status of watermelons in the hearts of Pinghu people. There are free tour guides in the scenic area, you can walk, you can also take a battery car, and taking a cruise is also a good experience. Among the many scenic spots, the Li Shutong Memorial Hall (Kowloon Opera Pearl) in Shutong Park is a landmark building in the scenic spot, which introduces the life and achievements of Mr. Li Shutong. The Baoben Pagoda here is one of the oldest existing buildings in Pinghu City, and the Baoben Temple (10 yuan) is one of the oldest buildings in Pinghu City. It was rebuilt in recent years, and it also has a bit of Zen. Turn south from Baota Road and enter Huancheng East Road, and at the corner is Nancun Shudui. There is a stone square at the entrance, and Binhu is a three-storey building (5 yuan) with a view of the nine peaks by the sea.Pinghu · 2.5km from downtown

The Jiulong mountain range, a continuation of the Tianmu mountains, stretches east-west with over twenty hills, collectively known as the coastal hills of Zhapu. Viewed from afar, the undulating peaks and lush forests resemble a giant dragon resting by Hangzhou Bay, hence its name. Jiulongshan tourist resort is built against the mountains, integrating lake views, mountain scenery, canyons, forests, ocean waves, and ancient temples. Located in the core area of Jiulongshan national forest park with a forest coverage rate of 72.6%, it was approved as a provincial-level tourist resort by the provincial government in 1998. The resort spans from Chenshan ridge line in the west to Tongtian Island (Waipushan) in the east, from Dashan ridge line and Zhaquan highway in the north to Damengshan Island in the south, including the sea areas west and north of Chenshan, Huangshan, Gaogongshan, and Waipushan. With a total planned area of 10.12 km², it is a coastal leisure destination combining mountain-forest-sea-island ecological resources. Waipushan attraction Waipushan attraction is an important part of Jiulongshan tourist resort. Covering a total area of 110.8 mu with an altitude of 42 m, this place has been a coastal defense stronghold since ancient times. Today, it transforms into an exploration destination blending zen spirit, poetic charm, and spectacular mountain-sea views, featuring temples, sunsets, lighthouses, coffee... May you discover all the beauty here! It takes approx. 1.5 hours to walk from the attraction entrance to the vicinity of Waipu Mountain. Cross the Tongtian Bridge to reach the island. The island has a zen-like atmosphere, featuring Xiaoputuo Guanyin Temple and many Buddhist cultural views where visitors can listen to the waves and meditate. Coastline off-road camping site Location: South of the sea breeze gourmet camp at Pinghu Jiulongshan tourist resort. Highlights: The camp features an approx. 1.5 km off-road track with various terrains including steep slopes, S-curves, and L-curves, offering both fun and excitement. Three vehicle types are available: single for children, single for adults, and family-friendly, making it suitable for family outings. The track is adjacent to the east beach playground and sea breeze gourmet camp, providing a one-stop experience with beach games, dining, relaxation, and off-road racing. East beach playground Jiulongshan east beach playground is a natural seawater recreational camp in Jiaxing. Not only has it meticulously restored the natural landscape of the old bathing beach, but it also cleverly incorporates trendy elements like coffee and music barbecues, along with thoughtful amenities such as showers, storage, and a visitor service center. The new "water castle" has become a paradise for children: kayaking and water bikes shuttle across the blue waves, quietly reviving the liveliness of the former bathing beach. The family-friendly beach crawler, designed specifically for parents and kids, carries laughter as it slowly moves across the sand.Pinghu · 13.8km from downtown

South Lake is named for its location in the south of Jiaxing city. It is also one of "the 3 famous lakes in Jiangnan" along with Xuanwu lake in Nanjing, and West Lake in Hangzhou. Not only is it a scenic area, it's also an important revolutionary memorial site in the modern history of China. In 1921, the Communist Party of China was founded while on a tourist boat on South Lake in Jiaxing. If you find yourself along the lake on a rainy day, don't miss the sight of mist rising up over the lake. You can also rent a boat and go out on the lake to enjoy the views.Jiaxing · 26.3km from Pinghu

Xitang Historic Town of China

7.1
4.5/5
14k reviews
Xitang Historic Town of China is located in Jiashan, Zhejiang, at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. Historically known as Xietang and Pingchuan, it was the border area between the Wu and Yue states during the Spring and Autumn period, earning the description "Wu's root and Yue's corner." Unlike many overly commercialized water towns, it remains home to numerous local residents. At dawn, seniors can often be seen washing clothes by the riverbanks, while in the afternoon, they leisurely play chess under the covered corridors, giving it the reputation of "a living millennia-old town." Its three distinctive features—numerous bridges, alleyways and covered corridors—set it apart from other Jiangnan water towns. A nearly km-long covered corridor runs along the river, concentrated around Chaonandai and Beizha streets. Sheltered from rain while walking beneath it, this structure earned the poetic name "misty rain corridor." One side of the corridor features shops selling local specialties and snacks alongside residential houses, while the riverside offers occasional backrest benches for watching paddle boats pass by. During rainy seasons, sitting under the eaves to listen to rainfall and observe the water creates a uniquely charming waterscape. The town also boasts over a hundred ancient alleys, mostly paved with stone slabs. Among these, Xixia Street's Shipi Lane stands out—its narrowest section measures less than m wide, requiring pedestrians to sidle past each other while glimpsing only a sliver of sky above, famously called "Xitang's thread of sky." Over twenty ancient stone bridges span the river in the old town: Yongning Bridge offers a prime vantage point to overlook the river confluence and rows of dark-tiled roofs, with particularly clean photo opportunities during quiet early mornings. Songzi Laifeng Bridge stands out among Jiangnan's ancient bridges with its roofed top and stone seating for rest. Huanshou Bridge provides distant views of layered gray rooftops, while Wan'an Bridge served as the filming location for the finale chase scene in "Mission: Impossible III," where Tom Cruise sprinted through the town's streets and bridges. Xiyuan Garden and Zui Garden within the town exemplify delicate Jiangnan estate gardens—the former being a Ming dynasty private residence featuring pavilions, towers, and rockeries with fish ponds, the latter showcasing works by printmaker Wang and his son. Grand residences like Zhongfu Hall preserve traditional wealthy family layouts, with Huguo Suiliangwang Temple and Shengtang Temple maintaining strong incense traditions. The Button Museum, Chinese Wine Culture Museum, and Jiangnan Tile-ends Exhibition Hall house local folk memories. As night falls, Xitang dons a different face, with red lanterns lighting up one after another. Bars line Tangdong Street, filled with alternating songs and music, creating a striking contrast to the town's rustic daytime charm. Here, you might take a paddleboat ride—a cruise pier sits by Songzi Laifeng Bridge, offering a particularly delightful view of the waterfront lights reflecting on the water. Stroll a few steps, and you'll encounter street snacks like stinky tofu, tofu pudding, steamed pork with rice flour, braised pork, gorgon fruit cake, and glutinous rice balls. Authentic Jiangnan dishes can be savored at old restaurants along Beizha Street. Visiting in late autumn, you may catch the Hanfu Culture Week, initiated by lyricist Vincent Fang and held annually for over a decade, when the town brims with flowing traditional robes, enhancing its ancient ambiance. Travelers preferring tranquility can stay at alleyway inns away from the bar street—only by spending a night can one witness the quiet, unspoiled morning charm of the ancient town.Jiashan · 32km from Pinghu

Yuehe Historic District

537 reviews
Yuehe Historic District is a remarkably well-preserved Jiangnan water town district within Jiaxing's old city. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal flows along one side of the district, its winding path embracing the city in a crescent shape—the origin of the name "Yuehe." Since the Southern Song Dynasty, this area has been a hub for merchants and bustling markets, reaching its peak during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Today, it retains its "three rivers and three streets" framework: the Grand Canal, Outer Yuehe, and Inner Yuehe run in parallel, accompanied by Zhongji Road, Tannong, and Xiushuidou Street. The layout of alternating rivers and streets, combined with riverside corridors and wharves, showcases the classic Jiangnan water town aesthetic, offering a glimpse into the prosperity of the old Jiaxing "Jiangnan Prefecture City."Jiaxing · 27.4km from Pinghu

Waipu Mountain boasts a tranquil natural environment with a humid climate, warm winters, cool summers, and pleasant weather year-round. The unique sea erosion landforms, including sea caves, add distinctive views to the area. Especially in the southern area, centuries of wave erosion have created stunning natural views, including steep sea cliffs that inspire awe when looking down from above. The mountain also features the Wentao Pavilion commemorating Master Hongyi and the Xiaoputuo Zen Temple, which houses Guanyin statues brought from Japan and the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China.Pinghu · 15.5km from downtown

Legoland is only suitable for children; it offers little experience for adults. The atmosphere is vastly different from Disneyland; it's just an amusement park with rides and attractions that aren't particularly unique. 80% of these rides can be found at Fantawild, just with different exteriors. It's okay for locals visiting Shanghai, but it's not worth making a special trip from out of town.

There are East Lake in many cities in China. There is also an East Lake scenic spot in Pinghu City. The scenery of this place is also good. I happened to visit Pinghu, had a good meal in the old street, and then went here for a walk. I saw that the whole East Lake is quite large. There are many small attractions along the lake. You can spend a day here.

The water experience at Haiyan Ala is excellent, with a wide variety of attractions. The giant water slide and water roller coaster offer thrilling rides, while there are also play areas suitable for children. The huge wave pool creates a fantastic atmosphere, and the evening sessions feature lively electronic music. The water is clean, and safety personnel are on duty. It's recommended to visit in the afternoon to avoid the hot sun. Overall, it offers great value for money and is a great place for summer water activities and weekend getaways with the kids in the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai area.

The place is currently under renovation, but businesses are offering a 30 yuan coupon, which can be used to buy free noodles or 3 jin (1.5 catties) of freshly picked cherry tomatoes from the farm. The area is not crowded, the peach blossoms are in full bloom, the cherry blossoms have already faded, and the architecture is antique and charming, making it a great spot for taking photos.

Online ticket purchase and verification are very convenient; simply check at the pier to board the boat. The night cruise on a traditional rowing boat is an exceptional experience! The small boats glide slowly through the waterways, with red lanterns lining the covered walkways on both banks, their lights reflected on the river's surface as they pass under ancient bridges. The boatmen row, occasionally humming local Wu folk songs; the sound of oars and the flickering lanterns create a truly immersive Jiangnan atmosphere. Seeing Xitang's night view from the water is a completely different experience from walking around; a night cruise in Xitang is highly recommended!

Little Putuo truly lives up to its name. I got up at 5 AM to watch the sunrise. The Rainbow Bridge was very creative. After disembarking, the sound of chanting filled the air, and the waves crashed against the rocks. The natural white noise was very pleasant. I climbed to the highest point of the temple and chatted with the monks – a very rewarding experience.
