Gankeng Hakka Town is located in Gankeng Community, Jihua Subdistrict, Longgang District. Gankeng Village is a village with a long history. As early as more than 350 years ago, Hakka people came to settle here. Now, under the overall planning of the Peking University Research Institute, it has been developed into an ancient village featuring Hakka culture, integrating farming experiences and water town charm. At the 2014 ICIF, as a sub-venue, it showcased Hakka culture in all aspects. The attraction is mainly divided into two major parts: Gankeng Hakka Town and the ecological park. Gankeng Hakka Town features ancient buildings, a watchtower, and shops and restaurants converted from traditional residences, along with distinctive stilt houses by the lake. Worth seeing are the Zhuangyuan Mansion, which has a history of over two hundred years, and the exquisitely crafted Nanxiang Tower with its carved beams and painted pillars. Various pollution-free fruits and vegetables are grown in the ecological park, and many poultry are also raised there. Visitors can not only enjoy the original pastoral scenery but also pick them by hand, which is great fun. Tasting Hakka cuisine and local snacks from various regions is also a major highlight of the attraction. Salt-baked chicken and Hakka basin cuisine are representatives of Hakka dishes, and those made with fresh ingredients are even more delicious—be sure to give them a try.Shenzhen · 13.5km from downtown

Shenzhen Happy Valley

Shenzhen Happy Valley is a large theme park under OCT Group, completed and opened in 1998. The park is divided into nine major themed areas: Spanish Square, Magic Castle, Mini World · Adventure Mountain, Western Mine Town, Shangri-La, Hurricane Bay, Sunshine Coast, Happy Times, and Maya Water Park, covering more than a hundred rides and attractions that span experience levels from family-friendly interaction to extreme thrills. Each themed area has its own focus. Western Mine Town is modeled on a small town in the American West; the town features both thrill rides such as roller coasters and drop towers and integrated light-and-shadow interactive performances, with distinct atmospheres by day and by night. The Shangri-La themed area draws inspiration from Tibetan culture, and its two roller coasters, Snow Eagle and Snow Mountain Flying Dragon, weave through rocks and mountains, making them the park's signature thrill rides. Hurricane Bay is themed around water, with the log flume and Perfect Storm as the area's landmark attractions, where soaking experiences and high-speed spins alternate to deliver different levels of excitement. Mini World · Adventure Mountain is a collaboration with a well-known IP, featuring family-friendly interactive areas such as Rainbow Forest and Moe Town, suitable for families with young children. Maya Water Park opens in summer, offering various water slides and splash facilities. On the entertainment side, the live-action show "Tunnel Warfare" is a classic attraction in the park, recreating wartime scenes through on-site participation and live-action performance; in addition, the park regularly features interactive shows such as magic, comedy, and street dance interspersed throughout the themed areas. The Grand Carnival Parade is also a regular entertainment offering, marching along the main promenade for visitors to watch along the way. It is recommended to plan your route in advance, as the nine themed areas are quite large and difficult to fully experience in a single day; you can prioritize two or three key areas based on your interests. ▲Gold surges, waves crash ▲Ring-wing flying car ▲"Tunnel Warfare" large-scale live film and television shooting performance: a classic performance project of Shenzhen Happy Valley, with over 10,000 shows performed, on-site participation and live-action performance, recreating the magnificent historical scroll of the War of Resistance Against Japanese AggressionShenzhen · 8km from downtown

Splendid China and Folk Culture Villages consists of two major parks, Splendid China Miniature Scenic Area and China Folk Culture Villages, and is a large-scale theme park that showcases China's natural scenery and ethnic culture. The miniature scenic area contains more than 80 miniature landscapes of famous sites, arranged according to their locations on the map of China, most of them reproduced at a scale of 1:15; strolling through it is like "stepping into history in one step and touring all of China in 1-day tour." Well-known attractions such as the mini Great Wall, the Terracotta Army of Qin, the Mogao Caves of Dunhuang, Huangguoshu Waterfall, the Forbidden City, and the Potala Palace can all be taken in here, and tens of thousands of small pottery figures are also placed throughout the miniature landscapes, rich in detail, making this the core area for sightseeing and photography. China Folk Culture Village recreates more than 20 ethnic minority villages at a 1:1 scale, presenting the cultural customs of 56 ethnic groups. The Bouyei stone village, Mosuo log cabins, Dai bamboo houses, Mongolian yurts, and Tibetan lamaseries each have distinctive features, and walking among them is like visiting real ethnic villages. Interspersed among the villages are various participatory experience activities, such as riding awning boats and wooden rafts, experiencing the Dulong ethnic group's zip line, as well as horseback riding and archery, allowing visitors to personally experience the traditional lifestyles of ethnic minorities. The park also hosts several large-scale performances on a long-term basis, including classic productions such as "Dance of the Dragon and Phoenix," "Oriental Neon Garments," and "Legend of the Desert," which blend elements such as ethnic costumes, dance, music, and film and television stunts, making them highlights worth setting aside time to watch during a visit. The attraction also regularly holds festive activities such as the Water Festival, the Torch Festival, the Spring Festival temple fair, and the lantern carnival, so visiting in different seasons offers different folk experiences.Shenzhen · 7.2km from downtown

9k reviews
The Xiaomeisha Ocean World covers an area of approximately 60,200 square meters, with a total building area of about 132,500 square meters. This includes an above-ground building area of around 94,000 square meters and two basement levels totaling about 50,000 square meters. The complex consists of five buildings: an aquarium, a whale and dolphin pavilion, a fun theater, a mixed sea lion exhibit, a visitor service center, and a display service center. Xiaomeisha Ocean World houses over 200 rare and precious terrestrial animals, pinnipeds, cetaceans, and fish species. It focuses on themes of marine animal exhibitions, technological performances, and multimedia interactive science education, aiming to create a joyful atmosphere that brings people closer to nature and enhances family happiness. The new facility holds approximately 40,000 tons of water, with 74 display tanks containing 20,000 tons of water, several tanks exceeding 1,000 tons, and the largest tank, the Ocean Pool, holding 4,700 tons. Upon completion, the new facility will rank among the top ten marine animal exhibition venues in China in terms of total water volume. The venue employs advanced multimedia technology both inside and out, integrating ocean culture and technology concepts to provide an immersive park experience. The diverse technological displays of sound, light, and electricity enhance themed entertainment, improve visitor experience through information technology, meet the needs of niche market customers, and create diverse entertainment scenarios, establishing a new model for ocean-themed park entertainment. Xiaomeisha Ocean World has introduced the South China Mecha (Bionic) Whale Shark, allowing visitors to experience the charm of ocean giants up close while exploring the integration of bionic technology and artificial intelligence. This mecha (bionic) whale shark incorporates 27 patents, including 3D printing, integrated underwater motors, and bionic jaw mechanisms, showcasing innovation and technological prowess. It not only inspires students' interest in technology and the ocean but also reduces interference with wildlife by replacing live whale sharks. Additionally, its low-energy design consumes only 3 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day, with annual electricity costs of around 1,000 yuan, significantly lower than the cost of maintaining live whale sharks, reflecting an eco-friendly approach. Furthermore, the mecha (bionic) whale shark can collect key ocean data, aiding scientists in researching and protecting marine ecosystems.Shenzhen · 28.6km from downtown

Qianhai boasts a one-stop shopping, dining, and entertainment district with beautiful bay views, perfect for watching the sunset. The Bay Eye Ferris wheel is nearby. There are fountain and light shows in the evenings; it gets quite crowded on holidays and weekends, so arrive early for a front-row seat.

it was quite fun, though because of language barrier especially for introverts, i mostly just participate in the parade and npc short interaction as well as photo with them. If you just want to watch performances, this place is not bad, i recommend waiting for promotion sales cause it will be cheaper here ( i got a 2 days ticket i think with promotion price, which is cheaper than buying just 2 seperately)

We absolutely loved visiting this place! It offers a fascinating insight into Chinese culture and is a fantastic place to learn more about China’s rich history and traditions. We enjoyed our first visit so much that we actually booked tickets to come back for a second time. The shows are outstanding! This place is seriously underrated and, in my opinion, is the number one attraction I would recommend to anyone visiting Shenzhen who is interested in Chinese culture. An absolute must-visit! The people there are really nice.
