Kuerdai Forest Grand Canyon
Kuerdai Forest Grand Canyon is located within the Kalajun Grassland in Tekes County, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, situated in the central Tianshan Mountains. Within the scenic area, you can take the sightseeing shuttle to the Falcon Platform stop. The Kuerdai Forest Grand Canyon is northwest of that stop, and you can reach it by hiking or on horseback. Kuerdai Forest Grand Canyon originates in the central Tianshan Mountains and has a total length of more than 50 km. The elevation difference between the two ends of the canyon is approx. 2,300 m, and the average valley depth is approx. 350 m. It runs in a "ji"-shaped curve from southeast to northwest across the entire Kalajun tourist area. Entering the canyon, steep mountains and cliffs rise on both sides, with layered ridges and widespread snow‑ridge spruce. The Kuerdai River flows relentlessly year round, winding its way into Kalajun Lake. The upper section of the canyon is covered with layers of snow‑ridge spruce. As elevation decreases in the lower section, many species appear, including dense‑leaf poplar, Tianshan birch, walnut, wild apricot, dandelion, and cherry plum. From spring to early fall, the canyon is a canopy of green and lush vegetation. In June, dandelions blanket the mountains, their white seed heads drifting across the blue sky on the breeze, creating a beautiful, intoxicating scene. Every late September, the leaves of dense‑leaf poplar and Tianshan birch begin to turn yellow, while wild apricot trees and small shrubs start to redden. By October, the canyon is ablaze with red leaves and gold foliage, dazzlingly beautiful, leaving visitors with a deep sense of peace and vastness in nature.Tekes County · 38.9km from downtown

The Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns is located in the Kuoksu Grand Canyon scenic area, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Kuoksu River set against the majestic Tianshan Mountains. In June 2021, I was in Zhaosu. Because a section of the road was under construction, the driver took a detour and drove through the Sekeyunduan grassland. I didn't go deep into the tour. The natural scenery is beautiful, and some places are similar to Switzerland. There are almost no tourists, and of course there are few facilities to receive tourists.
