Wenxian Tianchi National Forest Park
Wenxian Tianchi National Forest Park is located in the mountains about 100 kilometers north of Wenxian County, Longnan. Due to crustal activity in ancient times, the Yangtang River was blocked, and a gourd-shaped lake of clear water was formed on Tianwei Mountain at an altitude of more than 2,400 meters. This is the Tianchi Lake. The Attraction integrates alpine lakes, animal and plant resources, volcanic earthquake relics, and ethnic customs. There are nine large bays and 108 small bays, surrounded by towering mountains and beautiful scenery. It takes 9 kilometers to drive from the entrance of the Attraction to Tianchi. When you step onto the viewing platform, you will be shocked by the beautiful scenery in front of you. Tianchi is looming in the clouds and mist, and the trees on both sides leave reflections in the pool water. Wenxian Tianchi Lake
Wenxian Tianchi Lake is hidden deep in the mountains of Wen County, Longnan, at the junction of Gansu, Sichuan, and Shaanxi provinces. It is an alpine barrier lake. Surrounded by peaks and lush forests, the lake water is deep blue and clear. The shoreline is winding and tortuous, shaped like a gourd. Almost no fallen leaves float on the lake surface, and it does not freeze even in the cold winter. Stroll along the boardwalk around the lake, where unique peaks and strange rocks like Lion Peak and Fairy Rock are scattered along the shore. On sunny days, the water surface is like a mirror, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, and lush green mountains. In the early morning, thin mist often rises over the lake, and the mountain shadows appear and disappear, resembling an ink wash painting. You can also take a boat tour on the lake. Looking back at the mountains from the water offers a different perspective. The highlights here vary with the seasons. In spring and summer, the mountains are green and the water is blue, and it is cool and pleasant, making it a great place to escape the heat. In the fall, the forests are painted with colors, and the red leaves contrast with the blue lake, bearing a certain charm reminiscent of Jiuzhaigou. Dujiangyan Scenic Area
The Dujiangyan Irrigation System is located along the main branch of the Lancang River, west of Dujiangyan City. It was constructed in the Qin dynasty around 256 BC by Li Bing, Prefecture Chief of Shu County, and his son. It is one of the few ancient Chinese water conservancy projects that has remained preserved and intact. The project consists of three primary works—Yuzui Diverting Embankment, the Feishayan Spillway, and the Baopingkou Water Inlet, and two secondary works which include the Baizhangdi (the thousand-feet dam) and Renzidi (the y-shaped dam). They divide the Yongjiang River into an outer and an inner branch, the former of which is used to divert floods and the latter for irrigation. Mount Qingcheng
Mount Qingcheng has long been praised as "Tranquil Paradise under Heaven," with its peaks encircling like city walls—hence the name. Legend says Zhang Daoling of the Eastern Han dynasty established Taoism here in a thatched hut, making it the ancestral home of Celestial Master Taoism, where temple incense still burns today. The mountain divides into front and back sections: the front features Taoist temples and cultural relics, commonly referred to as "Mount Qingcheng" by most travelers; the back excels in natural landscapes like pools, waterfalls, streams, and gorges, making it ideal for hiking and summer retreats. The highlights of Qianshan are concentrated. Starting from Jianfu Palace beside the mountain gate, follow the ancient stone steps upward past Natural Picture, Tianshi Cave, Chaoyang Cave, and Shangqing Palace, with the summit's Laojun Pavilion as the final vantage point. Tianshi Cave, also called Changdao Temple, is one of the mountain's largest Taoist complexes—its front courtyard holds a millennium-old ginkgo tree allegedly planted by Zhang Daoling, while the cliffside Ink-throwing Trough behind is said to be where the celestial master drew mountains with vermilion ink. Painting master Zhang Daqian once resided at Shangqing Palace, styling himself "Guest of Qingcheng." At the mountain's base, Yuecheng Lake's mirror-like waters add ethereal beauty to the lush greenery. The rear mountain entrance is the quaint Tai'an ancient town. From here, the trails connect Wulong gully and Feiquan gully into a loop, with views like Misty spring triple pools, Double spring water curtain cave, and Hundred-zhang long bridge accompanied by the sounds of water and shaded woods. The Longyin gorge walkway built along cliffs overlooks rushing streams below, making it a dedicated hiking route. The mountain stays pleasantly cool even in midsummer. The front mountain and back mountain entrances are not connected, usually requiring separate itineraries. Most 1-day tours choose one of the two. The front mountain's main temples can be visited in half a day, while the back mountain loop is longer and requires reserving most of a day. A paradise on earth, the Jiangnan region of Gansu, Tianchi Lake is divided into east and west routes. Those who enjoy photography can choose the west route, which is gentle and offers many picturesque shots. The east route involves climbing hills and is more suitable for those with ample physical strength. Furthermore, the forests along the east route are rich in wild mushrooms; mushroom enthusiasts may choose the east route.

Bikou Ancient Town, Wen County, Longnan, Gansu: Located in the southeast of Wen County, Gansu, it is known as one of the four famous towns in Gansu, along with Ankou Town, Huating County, Gansu, Maying Town, Tongwei County, and Hongcheng Town, Yongdeng County. In ancient times, Bikou Town was a Ganchuan water and land wharf, where merchants gathered and trade flourished, ranking first among the four famous towns. Today, Bikou Town is simple and natural, with clear water and green mountains and a beautiful environment, like a painting. It is not Jiangnan, but better than Jiangnan.

The overcast and foggy weather made the distant mountain scenery unclear, but the wisdom of the ancients certainly made the trip worthwhile. I recommend hiring a guide to better understand historical development. Our guide, Lily, provided detailed and patient explanations, answering all my questions. Thumbs up!

This sightseeing bus is a nightmare – your legs will hurt if you don't buy a ticket, but your heart will aches if you do. It's only a five-minute ride? Ten yuan per person for half a trip, same price for adults and children. Qingcheng Mountain has beautiful scenery, but it's far too commercialized.
