What travelers say:"We’ve traveled to Haikou because it was my friends bday, the hotel staff were very nice, everything was beautiful and specially the front desk were very nice, we’ve asked for a shuttle service to the airport and there were no available at the time we needed but we’ve got a late checkout instead, which was wonderful. They’ve also sent a piece of cheesecake with a candle to our room for my friend’s bday. The only bad part was that the swimming pools were filled with leaves, I guess it was a bit cold for people to get in the pool, but we did, so those leaves were very uncomfortable."
What travelers say:"Good location, right opposite to wanxiang city mall.
Good service, thank you Ken for upgrading the room to the sea view room, which has spectacular view.
The breakfast is also nice, with many options.
The only downside is that Wi-Fi was not stable in my room."
What travelers say:"Outside is a little outdated and could do with a clean and paint. However, inside is lovely and the rooms are clean and big. The breakfast was great. Food is mainly Chinese but there are pastries and a small selection of western food. Overall, very nice stay. Pool area is lovely but you need a swim hat to go in the pool."
What travelers say:"I came to this hotel during the summer of 2022, and they were working on the beach, but we still had access to it. I wanted to return because it was a very relaxing experience. I returned for the 2023 Spring Festival, and it was even better because the beach had been renovated. This trip was very relaxing and enjoyable. I would return to Haikou Shangri-La because the staff and other guests were friendly and helpful. "
What travelers say:"Best place to stay for both business & leisure. Beaches, sunset point markets all nearby. Happening place. Staff very professional & friendly. Ms Vivian (the Manger) very Professional & customer care experienced person. On the top Sky Bar impressive. Met the Manager Mr Charles (he knows lot about India & he can speak little Hindi). Wow.. must visit here."
What travelers say:"Amazing hotel ! ❤️ excellent service , wonderful people, beautiful territory with volcanic hot springs and swimming pools. Thank you Beth , a young lady on the reception for helping us to handle all issues and requests during our stay. We also discovered a nice souvenir on the table , what a lovely touch for a good memory. I will definitely recommend this hotel to all my friend and family members, in love. My mom loves it so much too, thank you."
What travelers say:"The location was not ideal for the purpose of my vacation. It was difficult to determine from the online information available, if there was a beach nearby. There wasn’t. It was also frustrating that the swimming pool was closed given that there was not swimming beach nearby. There is a supposed to be a spa in the hotel but it was no longer available. A fitness room still exists and looked well equipped. Aside from this, the staff were friendly and a couple of the staff spoke enough English to take care of my needs. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the cleaning staff did an excellent job of cleaning my room. It was convenient to have laundry facilities in the room given that my stay was 14 days long. If you’re in Haikou for business, then I give this hotel high marks. I was on vacation so it wasn’t the ideal hotel."
What travelers say:"This place has a beautiful view. You can walk near the harbor and relax. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The room is clean and the bed is very comfortable. The pool just needed to be cleaned. There were a lot of bugs floating onto of the water. The Italian restaurant located next to it is great also. "
What travelers say:"The hotel is close to the river and you can see the scenery. The morning tea is very good, with Cantonese refreshments. It is also very close to the arcade old street, so it is convenient to travel. Very good. I will choose to stay again on my next trip."
What travelers say:"Very big room. Clean and beds are comfortable. The good thing that it’s having a washing machine and small kitchen.
We stay one night just was in transit in Haikou.
Breakfast also very nice."
What travelers say:"Breakfast had a vast selection, but none of it was very good. The sushi would make a Japanese person cry, the sausages and bacon would make an English person cry and you would get a better Chinese breakfast for 10RMB at a local market (baozi and yotiao are from frozen).
The main reason for choosing this hotel over other options was the kids club. Unfortunately it is rubbish. A single member of staff doing some origami with leaves or basic art/craft. Requires adult supervision. Very disappointing by international standards.
Hotel is very grand, but not maintained to the standard you would expect from the brand. Design of the hotel does not lend itself to Haikou's climate, the communal spaces are not aircondionable and so it is uncomfortably hot.
Pool was good, but again needs maintenance. Children especially enjoyed the foam cannon.
Room was spacious, clean and cool.
Coffee is good.
At the time of writing they offer "good night" as a free gift which is a lavender spray. They also offer a free drink on arrival - which just means help yourself to a drink from the fridge in your room.
Overall I would recommend paying a bit less and going with a newer hotel closer to the city."
What travelers say:"Let's start with the positives. The rooms at the hotel were undeniably great. They were spacious, well-designed, and offered a comfortable ambiance. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail in the room decor, making it a pleasant space to relax after a long day of exploring the area.
The hotel's breakfast selection was another highlight of my stay. There was a good variety of options, and the quality of the food was quite impressive. Starting my day with a satisfying breakfast definitely set a positive tone for my daily adventures.
Though the overall service at the hotel was just okay, there was one staff member who stood out and made a significant difference in my stay - Kitty. Kitty's exceptional assistance and attentiveness were truly commendable. She went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed and provided excellent recommendations for local attractions and dining options.
However, there were some glaring issues that affected my experience. First and foremost, the Wi-Fi connection was terrible. As a traveler, having reliable internet access is essential for staying connected and planning daily activities. Unfortunately, the unreliable Wi-Fi at the hotel made this difficult, and it was quite frustrating.
Additionally, the swimming pool was a letdown. Despite appearing beautiful in the pictures, it was actually dirty during my stay. I was looking forward to relaxing by the poolside, but the unclean water made it an unappealing option.
Furthermore, the location of the hotel was a significant drawback. It was far from most of the popular attractions and amenities, making it inconvenient and time-consuming to travel to places of interest. I found myself spending more time commuting than enjoying the destination itself.
On the culinary front, while there was a restaurant called "China First," the food was indeed excellent. However, I can't overlook the fact that it was expensive, and overall, the hotel felt overpriced for the amenities and services provided."
What travelers say:"I am specifically thankful for the help we need from lady ( tourist guide) from the hotel to arrange a taxi from Haikou to Sanya.
For the tourist abroad facing a problem with apps call WeChat with this all the payments can be done.
It is widely used in China.
I downloaded it from Europe but can not connected bank card from a non Chinese bank."
What travelers say:"Stayed here for 2 nights. Very good location. 5 stars to the breakfast venue which is a revolving restaurant on 31st floor! Imagine having our delicious breakfast and enjoying the 360°view of beautiful Haikou city at the same time! This hotel far exceeds my expectation. Very value for money. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
What travelers say:"Beautiful hotel! Felt like staying in the forbidden city. I loved my room!!! It had a living room and big bathroom with beautiful tub. Big balcony but no view and uncomfortable chair. "
