Highlights: Wengang Cultural Center Botanical Garden is the first local cultural center in the United States with the theme of retired sailors. It has a history of more than 30 years. The center uses a combination of history, architecture, visual arts, theatre, dance, music, environmental science and other elements to provide experiences for visitors of all ages. The Wen Harbor complex includes 28 buildings, with a Greek Revival style building, which has now become a dual example of history and contemporary art in the local area, and is also one of the landmarks of New York City. Inside the Cultural Center is a concert hall, second only to Carnegie Hall in its long history and often used for exhibitions and performances. Botanical gardens run through the cultural center, including the famous New York Chinese Scholars Garden and the Richmond Foundation Tuscan Garden based on 18th-century Italiana. The cultural center's educational programs, exhibitions and performances in the humanities have benefited 470,000 residents, and about 280,000 people visit it each year.
