蓉归故里Yungang Grottoes is one of the three major grottoes in China and a must-see scenic spot when visiting Datong. The grottoes and Buddha statues are magnificent and grand, making it well worth a day's visit. The only downside is that it gets very crowded with tourists during the summer vacation.

lzxy_jinI recommend hiring a guide when visiting Jinci Temple; otherwise, it's just a rushed tour of the park and not very interesting. There's a third-party company affiliated with the scenic area at the entrance that provides guided tours.

过尽千帆。As the Yellow River bursts out of the Jin-Shaanxi Grand Canyon, its powerful momentum is halted at Hukou Waterfall. The immense force washes over the cliffs on both sides, like thunder, like the sound of pine trees, like a roar, shaking people's hearts. Looking down at Hukou Waterfall, one is awestruck by the magnificent sight of Mother Nature.

大白兔成精啦The ancient city is fantastic! There's so much history to learn! The "Encounter Pingyao" performance was also superb! The sets, props, and actors were all excellent, paying attention to detail! The three-day pass for the attractions within the ancient city is a great feature.

e09141939We booked discounted tickets for the children, and entry was quick and easy with just a scan-to-enter code. Seeing the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda was truly awe-inspiring; its mortise and tenon structure, standing for nearly a thousand years, is remarkably well-preserved. It's a testament to the wisdom and craftsmanship of the ancients.

M36***25The best time to go is in the morning, when the light is best. If you go in the afternoon, the weather needs to be good enough. Inside the magnificent main hall, which uses 14 kilograms of gold, I spent over an hour looking up repeatedly. My neck pain is almost cured! Aside from the main hall, the rest of the hall isn't particularly impressive. A slight drawback is that the security guards kept reminding everyone to leave quickly, which is understandable given the sheer number of people. I imagine there will be fewer people in winter when it's cold, allowing for a quieter contemplation and communion with the thousand Buddhas across time. Once you're there, you'll know it was worth the trip; it's truly breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.

e09141939The tickets I booked for the children were very convenient; we entered by scanning a QR code. "Of the nine strategic passes under heaven, Yanmen Pass is the foremost," and today we are at Yanmen Pass. Just as we arrived at the entrance of the scenic area, at the wall of famous figures and the statue of the Yang family generals, the park was playing "Eternal Chang'an City," which made me feel a little sentimental.

酷酷的哈士奇The scenery is nice and the bus is very convenient, good reviews! But the consumption level in the scenic area is a bit high, especially in some farmhouse restaurants, where two people can eat more than 100 yuan, while other places in the mountains only cost dozens of yuan.

136***19When visiting Shanxi, a trip to Jinzhong is incomplete without a visit to the Qiao Family Compound. However, the ticket price is not very friendly and is generally quite expensive. But strolling around the compound is still a worthwhile experience!
