Anonymous userDinghu Mountain, renowned for its superior geographical location, is known as "the closest primeval secondary forest to the city" and is considered one of the "Four Famous Mountains of Lingnan" along with Luofu Mountain in Huizhou, Danxia Mountain in Shaoguan, and Xiqiao Mountain in Foshan. Dinghu Mountain is considered the foremost of the Four Famous Mountains of Lingnan because it integrates scenic tourism, scientific research, and religious pilgrimage. The origin of the name Dinghu Mountain is debated. Some say it's because there's a lake on the summit that never dries up, hence the name Dinghu (Top Lake); others say it's because the central peak is rounded and beautiful, and the surrounding peaks branch out in three directions, resembling a tripod from a distance, hence the name Dinghu (Tripod Lake); still others have a folk legend that the Yellow Emperor bestowed a tripod here, hence the custom of naming it Dinghu.
