    The Iraq National Museum was founded by British tourist and writer Gertrude Bell and began operation in 1926. Its original name was the Baghdad Archaeological Museum. It was relocated to the Arava region in 1966 and expanded in 1983. It is divided into 7 parts and 28 exhibition halls. The Iraq National Museum is listed as one of the 11 largest museums in the world by UNESCO. It houses about 250,000 precious historical relics, covering all historical periods of Iraq from the Stone Age 100,000 years ago to the mid-19th century. The museum also houses more than 70,000 rare books in various languages ​​and about 6,000 unique manuscripts. In terms of popularity and collection, especially in terms of archaeological excavations of early human civilization, only the Egyptian National Museum in Cairo can be compared with it in the Middle East.
