Similar to the Potala Palace and the Zabulunto Monastery, the thangka murals are exquisite and the temple boasts a rich history, making it well worth a visit.
The only drawback is the distance, requiring only a car. There are no direct buses, making transportation inconvenient.

As a parent of a boy, it was worth taking him here. He loved it and looked at everything. There weren't many entertainment facilities inside, just some retired aircraft and cannons.
This attraction is a great value for money. You can see historical and cultural items like tanks and J-5 trainer aircraft, and they're incredibly authentic. The venue is also quite large. Even more surprising, we even saw Asia's first artillery piece, which was truly spectacular and exceeded our expectations.
I wish the descriptions could be more detailed, or include more historical battle stories about fighter jets and tanks.
Overall, the experience was fantastic. Seeing so many artillery pieces and fighter jets was incredibly cost-effective.

Going to Meidaizhao and then to the Jokhang Temple in Hohhot created a fascinating sense of continuity. We happened to have a chance. Visiting Meidaizhao in the morning and the Jokhang Temple the next day was a truly wonderful experience. A guided tour of Meidaizhao is essential to truly appreciate the historical continuity. If you want to climb the White Pagoda later, you don't need to buy a ticket; you can go there on your own.

Meidaizhao, formerly known as Lingjue Temple and later renamed Shouling Temple, is one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist structures in Inner Mongolia and a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Site. Located on the north side of the Beijing-Tibet Expressway, this unique ancient structure was built during the Longqing period of the Ming Dynasty (1567-1572). It was built by Altan Khan, leader of the Tumed tribe of Mongolia, after he was granted the title of Queen of Shunyi.
01 Overview
Meidaizhao has a circumference of 681 meters and a total area of approximately 4,000 square meters. It is surrounded by a wall of earth and stone inlays, approximately 4 meters high and sturdy. Corner towers are built at each corner, and a gate is located in the middle of the south wall. The temple houses approximately 1,650 square meters of Ming Dynasty murals, vividly depicting the political and religious developments of the Mongol Jin Dynasty during the Ming Dynasty. 02 Tour Route and Highlights
From downtown Baotou, drive approximately 50 kilometers along the Beijing-Tibet Expressway to Meidaizhao. Leo drove there himself. The breathtaking scenery of the Inner Mongolian steppes along the way was breathtaking.

Not as good as the scenery of Chunhui Mountain a little farther from the city, but the city is really convenient.
