Gegentala is Mongolian, meaning "vast and bright grassland". Gegentala grassland is located in Siziwang Banner, Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 140 kilometers away from Hohhot, the capital of the autonomous region, and 200 kilometers away from Ulanqab City. The asphalt road extends to the tourist spot like a black ribbon, and it is a national scenic spot. Since it was opened to Chinese and foreign tourists in 1979, it has received more than 40,000 tourists from more than 50 countries and regions, and more than 200,000 domestic tourists. Gegentala tourist spot holds a tourist Nadam from August 15 to August 25 every year, which is also a great time to escape the summer heat.
The Inner Mongolia Gegentala Grassland Tourism Center is located on the Duerbert (Siziwang Banner) grassland at the northern foot of the Daqing Mountains in Inner Mongolia, 128 kilometers away from Hohhot, the capital of the autonomous region. The center covers an area of nearly 10,000 mu and has total assets of more than 400 million yuan. The Gegentala Grassland Tourism Center is one of the five major grassland tourist attractions in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and one of the first batch of 4A-level tourist attractions (spots) in the country. In July 2004, it was named as the first batch of national industrial and agricultural (animal husbandry) tourism demonstration sites by the National Tourism Administration. In 2005, the "Gegentala" trademark was recognized as a "famous trademark in Inner Mongolia".
