The trip was well worth it! I truly felt the solemnity and tranquility of this thousand-year-old temple.
Huayan Temple's architecture is a true gem. The Liao Dynasty style of the Main Hall, the exquisite murals, and the painted sculptures—every detail is breathtaking, like reading a three-dimensional history textbook. The entire temple is magnificent and imposing, and its preservation is truly miraculous.
Walking along the blue bricks and among the ancient cypresses, my heart naturally calmed. The atmosphere here is less commercial, more rich in cultural heritage and a religious atmosphere. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and captivating. This is a must-see for lovers of ancient architecture and history—it far exceeded my expectations!
Amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, this is a rare sanctuary.
Entering the temple feels like entering another world. The lingering scent of incense and towering ancient trees instantly soothe my inner restlessness. There's no excessive tourist noise, only the occasional chime of bells and chanting, which invites me to slow down and find peace. Whether you're devoutly worshipping the Buddha or simply sitting and daydreaming under the long corridor, you'll feel a powerful, peaceful energy. It's a truly relaxing and healing experience. I'd recommend it to anyone seeking inner peace.
It's truly stunning, worthy of its name, the "Liao and Jin Art Museum"! The ancient architecture is magnificent and beautifully preserved, making for stunning photos.
The environment is tranquil and well-organized, allowing you to experience the profound Buddhist culture. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The admission fee is incredibly worthwhile, and it's a must-see attraction in Datong! 👍
The highlight of my trip to Datong was Huayan Temple.
[Stunning Architecture] The architectural style of the Liao and Jin dynasties is majestic and imposing, with massive brackets and gently sloping roofs, reflecting the wisdom and aesthetics of the ancients. The exquisitely designed celestial pavilions in the Bhagavad Gāthāna Hall were praised by Liang Sicheng as "a unique masterpiece in China," and seeing them in person is truly breathtaking.
[Quiet Environment] The temple is large, meticulously laid out, and the grounds are immaculately maintained. Ancient trees, lush flowers, red walls, and black tiles combine in a remarkably harmonious harmony, creating a breathtaking scene at every turn.
[Excellent Experience] The area was not crowded, and the visit was excellent. You can enjoy a guided tour to learn more about the history, or wander freely on your own. Benches are provided for rest, a very user-friendly touch.
I truly believe this is a top-tier ancient temple in China, boasting both immense cultural and aesthetic value, and meticulously maintained. I highly recommend visiting and experiencing it for yourself!
