The environment is very good, the second floor, the decoration style is unique, there is a traditional Chinese style feeling, there are many diners, the place is also very large, the taste is not bad, I ordered the steam pot chicken, compared with the Baoxing building at noon, it is sweeter and more fragrant, the Hani white fish is probably because we are used to eating river fish, the plum ribs are sweeter, the taste is not bad, a bit of Suzhou taste, the wild vegetable peanut soup is too big, overall good, the service is also good, I ordered an extra fried rice. The waiter also refunded it.
The dinner on February 24, 2019 was antique and full of Chinese charm. The steamed chicken here really amazed me. At that time and even now, I think the steamed chicken here is the best steamed chicken I have ever eaten. The steamed chicken eaten in Shanghai can no longer be called steamed chicken. The soup is very delicious and mellow, and the quality of the chicken ingredients is also quite good. It is a little regrettable that the other four dishes are at least average in taste. I remember that the per capita price was more than 40 yuan at that time, which was not expensive.

Seeing the good reviews online, I went there to eat in the evening. I didn't know how to order, so I just ordered a set meal, which was only 78 yuan. The portion was huge and I was completely full. The steamed chicken and tofu are both local specialties, but I think the most outstanding one is the pickled cabbage and minced pork. The acidity is just right, and it is a little sweet, very delicious.

After visiting Jianshui, I enjoyed a dinner at Baoxinglou, a well-known local restaurant on Guangci Road near Guangci Lake. Baoxinglou has an antique architectural style. From the Guangci Road gate, you can directly go to the second floor, which is considered upstairs. When you are in the restaurant, you can go downstairs to the first floor. From the back door, you will reach the ring road beside Guangci Lake. The scenery is very beautiful. The menu has various local specialties of Jianshui, as well as specialties from Honghe Prefecture and even many other prefectures in Yunnan Province. The ingredients are fresh, the cooking level is excellent, and the spiciness is just right, which is endless aftertaste. Jianshui grilled tofu, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, is worth recommending.
It was probably around 1pm, so we didn't have to wait in line. The storefront was antique with ethnic characteristics. We ordered steam pot chicken, three-shredded grass sprouts, a basket of siu mai, and grilled tofu. It was okay. The steam pot chicken was crispy and a little oily, the grass sprouts were tender and refreshing, and the grilled tofu seemed different from ordinary tofu. It was crispy and spicy with a little chili.

The barbecue and fried rice tasted good, highly recommended! The only drawback was that due to the large number of people coming to dine, the boss was a little busy, and I waited for almost two hours before I could eat the delicious food. After tasting it, I felt it was worth it. Don't miss this restaurant when you come to Jianshui Ancient City!
An old-fashioned barbecue in a small alley in Jianshui. The taste is salty, the ingredients are generous, and it is spicy and delicious.
