Shisi Temple is located in Xier Village, Daliang Township, Jingning She Autonomous County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, on Baixiang Mountain, which is more than 1,000 meters above sea level. It was first built in the tenth year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1140), and was originally named "Shisi Temple". Later, it was renamed "Shisi Temple". It is a religious building that combines Buddhism and Taoism. It integrates the doctrines of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism, and is a national key cultural relic protection unit.
Shisi Temple was originally built to reward the "filial boy" of the Mei family. In the early years of the Southern Song Dynasty, Mei Yuanxi, the 87th ancestor of the Mei family, was only six years old. He followed his father to guard the tomb of his grandfather for three years. After hearing the news, Song Gaozong honored him as a "filial boy" and built Shisi Temple.
In the sixteenth year of Zhizheng in the Yuan Dynasty (1356), it was expanded to "Shisi Daochang", and in the first year of Xuande in the Ming Dynasty (1426), it was changed to "Shisi Temple".
It was renovated twice during the Shunzhi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty. The existing buildings retain the architectural styles of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
