Chaoran Tower, located on the east side of Daming Lake in Jinan City, Shandong Province, was originally built in the Yuan Dynasty and is known as the "First Tower North of the Yangtze River." Its building area is 5,673 square meters, situated on a wide white marble base, topped with copper tiles, and standing 51.7 meters tall with seven stories.
"Chaoran Zhiyuan" is one of the eight scenic spots in the newly expanded area of Daming Lake. Other surrounding attractions include the archway, Xia Garden, Jiaxuan Temple, Tie Gong Temple, Lixia Pavilion, Beiji Temple, Nanfeng Temple, Huibo Tower, Mingchang Bell Pavilion, Minghu Baoding (Treasure Cauldron of Daming Lake), Zeng Gong's mural, and a 100-meter-long fountain in the center of the lake. The newly restored Chaoran Tower is a reinforced concrete imitation wood structure pavilion-style building with a building area of 5,673 square meters. The tower sits on a wide white marble platform, topped with copper tiles, simple and elegant, with seven stories and a height of 51.7 meters. The building houses a collection of wood carvings depicting scenic views of Jinan, including the Eight Views of Jinan, as well as root carvings such as "Kunpeng Spreading Its Wings," "Ten Thousand Horses Galloping," and "Dragon Spitting Nine Carp," and paintings of the Eight Views of Daming Lake. An elevator inside the building leads directly to the observation deck, allowing visitors to enjoy panoramic views of Jinan.
