Buying tickets is very convenient; you can buy them freely even during the off-season. I highly recommend visiting the Longmen Grottoes. Especially when it's not crowded, I recommend the official small group guided tours. The intermediate-level guide we hired was excellent.
It's spectacular. This is my third time here. Park at the northwest parking lot and check the western tour route. I recommend buying a ticket for the electric cart (10 yuan per person). The eastern grottoes require climbing; those with good stamina can go, but I didn't. The tour involves walking in from the west, crossing the river, and walking back. You take the electric cart back.

Starting from Hongmen (Red Gate) is the most classic hiking route, with numerous historical and cultural sites along the way. Depending on individual circumstances, the entire hike takes 3-6 hours. Alternatively, you can take a cable car from Zhongtianmen (Middle Heaven Gate) to the summit. Tickets can be purchased directly. Wear comfortable shoes; other equipment like hiking poles is up to you.
The entrance fee to Mount Tai is quite expensive, but it's valid for three days. I plan to climb it again the day after tomorrow. The scenery is so-so, but the summit is nice. Online reviews make Mount Tai seem too difficult; I think it's easier than Mount Heng. Most prices on the mountain are well-controlled; even hot water costs extra. However, today there were students on an autumn outing, and one student asked about a stall selling oranges for 15 yuan each. I don't know if that's the norm or if they're ripping people off.

Jinci Temple is a "millennial architectural treasure trove" of Taiyuan, renowned for its "Three Wonders" (Zhou Cypress, Nanlao Spring, and Song Dynasty Maid Statues). The Shengmu Hall and Fish Pond Flying Bridge are exemplary structures from the Song and Yuan dynasties. It also houses inscriptions handwritten by Emperor Taizong of Tang (Li Shimin), showcasing a wonderful blend of culture and nature. However, it also has its shortcomings. Parking is difficult during peak tourist season, some signs are unclear and easy to get lost in, and the surrounding facilities and promotional efforts need improvement. Would you like me to help you create a concise tour route for Jinci?
Jinci Temple is definitely worth a visit. Seeing truly ancient architecture and trees dating back thousands of years is wonderful. However, I feel the preservation isn't quite there yet; many of these things may be gone in the future.

In winter, Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden not only features the still-brilliant International Chrysanthemum Exhibition, but also offers hundreds of immersive performances daily, two themed interactive events with thousands of NPCs, a Chinese-style amusement park, and many other exciting activities, fully recreating the prosperity of Bianjing (Kaifeng) in the Northern Song Dynasty and the charm of Song culture.
It's a traditional-themed cultural scenic area with dozens of performances, including several highlights such as the horse battle where Yue Fei defeats Xiao Liang Wang with his spear, the naval battle where the Jin army attacks Bianjing, traditional intangible cultural heritage acrobatics, and themed parades. The downside is the separately charged evening performance, "A Dream of the Song Dynasty in Bianjing," which reportedly features over 1000 performers. Perhaps due to its outdated design, it lacks originality and contemporary innovation, and compared to shows like the Fantasy City Theater in Henan, it doesn't justify the price. On the other hand, the chrysanthemum exhibition was fantastic; it was the first time I'd seen colorful chrysanthemums, and overall, it was a great experience.

Absolutely worth it! The first day was cloudy 🌥️, but the third day the sun came out and I came back again. It's so incredibly beautiful! I will forever love autumn in the North! So gorgeous!
A must-see attraction in Jinan, it's incredibly crowded. Visiting on a weekend made it even more packed. If you're driving, park at Quancheng Square; it's just a few minutes' walk from there. I booked my tickets in advance on Ctrip, so entering was easy – just scan the code!

One Yanmen Pass, half of China's history. A thousand years of war, a thousand miles of heroic spirit. Strolling along the ancient road of Yanmen Pass, one can almost hear the neighing of warhorses. From Li Mu of the Warring States period, Meng Tian of the Qin Dynasty, Wei Qing, Huo Qubing, and Li Guang of the Western Han Dynasty, to Xue Rengui and Guo Ziyi of the Tang Dynasty, and Yang Ye (the Yang family generals) of the Northern Song Dynasty, heroes emerged from Yanmen Pass!
Smooth entry. It is a beautiful and historical city with lot’s to see! Great. Easy city to walkthrough and very organized (even with lots of people). Really recommended for a day! Must see! The wall is also beautiful and you can have a nice stroll on top!

Three days for 100 yuan is a great deal! No pressure, lots of interactive NPCs, perfect for relaxing or bringing kids. The price is really unbeatable; we had a fantastic time and will definitely come again.
I've been here a few times before, and it's getting better and better! I got an annual pass, and it was worth it! Now there are dedicated free parking lots, and there's also a free shuttle bus to the scenic area, which is very convenient and hassle-free! There are performances everywhere in the scenic area, and many NPCs to interact with, making it very lively! You can also earn silver coins, which can be exchanged for items.

I spent the entire day, from 9:30 in the morning to 8:00 in the evening, inside that place called Henan, surrounded by tall yellow walls, binge-watching shows in a rush. It was an experience that was well worth the money.
It's definitely worth a visit. There are three major plays: "Ice Fantasy" is suitable for all ages and tells the story of ancient people in Henan; then there's "Li Family Village" and "The Train Station," both quite touching. The train station is a moving theater, which is very interesting. The rest are smaller theaters, each with its own strengths and weaknesses; I didn't quite understand some of them.

I drove through Shanxi, visiting the Li Family Mansion in Yuncheng, the Ma Family Mansion in Pingyao, the Wang Family Mansion, and the Cao Family Mansion. The Qiao Family Mansion was the best experience of all. The architecture was exquisite, the management was excellent, and the official explanations were very helpful. It's clear that with its fame and established reputation, both its operations and management have kept pace. Although the Qiao family were primarily businessmen, their family values and patriotism were truly admirable.
The Qiao Family Compound is a representative of Shanxi merchants and a popular filming location for movies and TV shows. It's excellent, offering insights into the development of China's commercial empire and its social and cultural aspects during that period, making it very educational. The architecture itself is a concentrated display of the traditional courtyard houses of northern China.

The Wang Family Compound boasts a well-preserved defensive structure, including various gate towers and watchtowers, allowing visitors to climb the city wall around the entire compound. Its wood carvings, brick carvings, and stone carvings adorn the eaves, brackets, screen walls, doors, and windows, depicting a rich variety of subjects such as the Three Friends of Winter (pine, bamboo, and plum), and the arts of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, all crafted with exquisite artistry.
The Wang Family Compound is a living fossil of Shanxi merchant culture, grand in scale and hailed as the "Folk Palace." Built against the mountainside, its exquisite brick, wood, and stone carvings showcase the wealth and aesthetic sensibilities of the Shanxi merchants. A stroll through it feels like stepping back into the grand mansions of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The scenic area is divided into several courtyards; it's recommended to allow at least 3 hours to fully appreciate it. Guided tours are engaging, providing in-depth understanding of Shanxi merchant history and the stories behind the architecture. However, some areas have many steps, which may be inconvenient for the elderly and children. In summer, be sure to protect yourself from the sun; in winter, dress warmly. The ticket includes multiple attractions, offering excellent value. For tourists interested in ancient architecture and Shanxi merchant culture, the Wang Family Compound is an absolute must-see.
