Taiqing Palace is located in Taiqing Palace Town, 10 miles east of Luyi County. Taiqing Palace Town was formerly known as Qurenli, Lixiang, and is the birthplace of Laozi, an outstanding ancient Chinese thinker and founder of Taoism. In 1986, Taiqing Palace was announced as a key cultural relic protection unit in Henan Province, and in 2001 it was announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit by the State Council. It is now a national AAAA-level scenic spot.
