It's a truly breathtaking place. When you reach the waterfall, the water splashes into the air, and the sound of the Yellow River is like thunder. Even under scorching sun, standing by the waterfall will cool you down and get soaked by the mist, so bring a raincoat. It's definitely worth the trip; photos and videos can't capture the breathtaking spectacle of what you see with your own eyes.
This attraction is absolutely amazing! The scenery is incredibly captivating and breathtaking. The service is exceptionally attentive, and the staff are friendly and professional. The facilities are excellent, and the experience is fantastic. It's definitely worth a visit and highly recommended!

One of the things I was particularly looking forward to during this trip to Shanxi was the abundance of ancient buildings and the vast gardens. The environment was comfortable, and it wasn't very hot in September, with a cool breeze that was pleasant. There were still quite a few visitors.
The scenic area's shuttle service was average, but the fare was cheap. There was nowhere to put the stroller on the bus, and the staff just watched and refused to help. The service was lacking. The guide we hired was quite good at explaining the tour.

There are many attractions in the city, so it's best to set aside a full day to visit. Xietongqing, the Confucian Temple, and the Pingyao County Yamen are all worth visiting. The county yamen has a court performance, so you can go there in advance to wait for it to start. There are many places to eat in the ancient city. I recommend Tianyuankui. The food is very good, the service is great, and the price is quite affordable with the coupon.
The Pingyao City Wall is located in Pingyao County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. It was first built during the reign of King Xuan of the Western Zhou Dynasty (827-728 BC) and covers an area of approximately 85,690 square meters. The western and northern sides of the wall were built by the Western Zhou general Yin Jifu when he stationed troops here during his northern expedition against the Xianyun. It is a national cultural relic protection unit.

Xiangshawan is the desert I most want to visit when I go to Inner Mongolia. Because I need to bring children, there are food for sale there, which is a bit commercialized. But it’s my first time in the desert, and I still feel good.
A good trip. The tour guide Xiaolong was very considerate to remind us of the weather forecast the day before yesterday, so we added clothes in time to prevent the risk of catching a cold. The tour items were explained in detail and attentively. 5-star praise

It is so exquisite that I am speechless. I admire and respect the wisdom of the ancients, whether it is dustproof or structure, construction, or grasp of details, I am in awe.
Xiaoxitian Temple in Xi County, Shanxi Province. Black Myth: Wukong, China's first truly global AAA single-player action role-playing game, released on August 20, 2024, features 36 major filming locations across China, with this location being the most famous. Following the game's release, Xi County, Shanxi Province, a small, mostly unknown county, has been flooded with tourists... They spend two hours taking photos (no flash), glittering with the sight of the gods and Buddhas. This is a nationally protected cultural relic, illuminated only by natural light, from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM daily. The earlier you go, the better; after 10 AM, the main hall becomes difficult to see.

Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River is a Chinese wonder worth a once-in-a-lifetime visit. It's recommended to view it from either Shaanxi or Shanxi Province. From the Shaanxi side, traditional buildings are dotted with scattered red flags. Shaanxi offers magnificent views of Hukou, with its cascading rock formations along the shore. Stand by the river and marvel at the cascading, geometric structure of the waterfall. Ke Zhenliang leaped over Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River, watched by millions. A sculpture commemorates his impossible feat.
There is no feeling of high mountains and flowing water. The ticket is too expensive and not worth it. You have to take a bus to get in. The bus stop is quite far away. It is a natural scenic spot that is too commercialized.

The room was spacious, the service was excellent, parking was convenient at the entrance, and there was free bottled water and ice cream in the lobby. There was also a washing machine and refrigerator for self-use. It was just a few minutes' walk from the Wooden Pagoda Scenic Area. Fantastic!
Yanmen Pass, the foremost of the Nine Great Fortresses of China, has guarded the Chinese nation for millennia. From its establishment by King Wuling of Zhao during the Warring States Period to the Han Dynasty's campaign against the Xiongnu, the Tang Dynasty's defense against the Turks, the Song Dynasty's resistance against the Liao and Jin dynasties, and the Ming Dynasty's defense against the Mongols, this place has witnessed countless battles. It's a true epitome of Chinese frontier culture. Here, I even imagined the "bloody battle of Yanmen Pass" in the story of the Yang Family Generals. It felt as if I were witnessing major historical events like Wang Zhaojun's expedition to the frontier and the abduction of Emperor Qinzong of Song. And then there were the footsteps of famous generals like Li Mu, Meng Tian, Wei Qing, and Huo Qubing, who garrisoned or fought here. It was truly awe-inspiring.

The tour guide spoke very well and was very patient. I learned a lot about the history of Qiao Family Courtyard. She asked questions and took photos as we walked. There were also elderly people present. The explanation, which was supposed to last from one to one and a half hours, stretched to two hours without any impatience. I was very happy.
The Qiao Family Compound is a famous residential complex in Shanxi Province, located in Qiaojiabao, Qi County. The family's fortune began with the first owner, Qiao Guifa, who, due to poverty, ventured out to explore the countryside. He made friends with fellow villagers and gradually built his fortune by selling tofu. The Qiao Family Compound boasts numerous exquisite brick and wood carvings, including a carp leaping over a dragon's gate and abundant grapes. The Qiao family's back garden is also quite impressive.

We took an official tour bus from Pingyao Ancient City. The round trip took 2 hours, and the tour itself took 2 hours, making it a perfect half-day. The Wang Family Courtyard is quite large, and you can ask for a guide. It was quite crowded that day, with tour groups everywhere. We were supposed to rain, but the weather was fine, which was a blessing. People say the Qiao Family Courtyard is a bit of a rip-off, but the Wang Family Courtyard is affordable, spacious, and worth a visit.
It is quite large, and only a part of it is open to the public at present. The through bus has a reserved visiting time of 2.5 hours, which starts at 8 am, arrives at 9 am, and returns at 11:30 am, so the time is a bit tight.

It was crowded during the holidays, so I joined a group tour on Ctrip. It took me 20 minutes to queue up at the entrance. The overall explanation was okay, quite standard, without too many exciting parts. It was not much worse than renting an audio guide. Just follow the explanation and don't get lost.
Shanxi Museum is a window to focus on the deep history of Shanxi. To Taiyuan, you must visit the Shanxi Museum. Taste carefully and take most of the day. It is recommended to reserve enough time!
