Who knows? You only need to visit these few attractions when visiting Quanzhou. I spent a weekend in Quanzhou and visited a lot of places. Not every attraction is as amazing as the online hype suggests, and many are disappointing! But there are a few I really want to recommend! Sharing my real-life experience list, no need to share too much.
Kaiyuan Temple
Quanzhou's landmarks are truly renowned! The temple is tranquil and quaint, and the moment you step inside, your heart is at peace. The twin towers are truly photogenic. I recommend wearing a flower in your hair and a modern Chinese style or plain skirt. The light at 4 p.m. is absolutely stunning, and every shot looks like a painting! West Lake Park
It's perfect for relaxing and taking in some fresh air! The lake is clear and the trees are lush. For those of you who usually have a lot of work stress, a walk here is truly relaxing. The trail around the lake is very pleasant, and the view from the mid-mountain observation deck is fantastic. I recommend visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon for a pleasant and sun-free stay. West Street
This old street, steeped in the charm of southern Fujian, is bustling and vibrant. Many young women, wearing flowers in their hair, are taking photos, and every corner is captivating! It's a great place to eat and stroll along, with many authentic local snacks hidden away.
Guanyue Temple
The incense is bustling, and the moment you enter, you'll feel the pious and peaceful atmosphere. Whether you're praying or just quietly enjoying the scenery, it's a truly relaxing experience. Remember to remain quiet and respect local customs. Pu Village
When you come to Quanzhou, you absolutely must experience the hairpin flower experience! It's truly the birthplace of hairpin flower culture. You can schedule a makeup appointment and transform into a hairpin flower girl for photos by the beach. It's truly a unique experience, highly recommended!
[Recommended Local Food]
These are some of my favorite spots that I've personally tested: Xiangzai Ahua Shacha Hotpot
This is a long-standing local favorite. The shacha sauce is rich but not greasy. We chose the large rotating set menu, which includes Minnan specialties like fist-shaped oysters, fried five-spice dumplings, and meat dumplings. You get a lot of variety in one sitting, perfect for sharing with friends! Li Youqian's Freshly Fried Seafood Gout Hotpot
This was shared with me by a friend in Quanzhou. The seafood is freshly fried, creating a powerful aroma! Finally, it's cooked in a pumpkin porridge base, allowing the sweetness to blend seamlessly into the porridge. The flavor is light and delicious, perfect for those who don't like heavy foods. I highly recommend trying the eel and oysters; they're delicious. Lizhouji Quanzhou Cuisine
You can order their ginger duck with your eyes closed! The duck is perfectly stewed and incredibly flavorful.
Accommodation:
I highly recommend the area near West Lake Park. It's quiet and conveniently located, and the B&Bs in this area are relatively new and comfortable. I've personally stayed at Ganxia B&B and Tongle B&B, both of which were quite good.
