The Sanjiangkou Scenic Area, located 4 kilometers northeast of Tongjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, faces Russia across the river. It is a national AAA-level scenic area. Due to differences in water quality and flow rates, the confluence of the Songhua and Heilongjiang rivers creates a distinct yellow-black dividing line, creating a spectacular "two-toned water" spectacle. The water, black in the north and yellow in the south, stretches for dozens of miles without merging, earning it the nickname "Northeast Natural Wonder."
After the confluence of the Songhua and Heilongjiang rivers, it becomes the "Huntong River," hence the name "Sanjiangkou Scenic Area."
The scenic area also features the Tongsan Highway Zero Starting Point Monument, a wetland park, and an observation deck. Admission is free, and visitors can enjoy the scenery of the Sino-Russian border river by boat or by strolling along the plank road.
