Recommendation: Reserve one to two days to wander the alleys, admire the architecture, experience the culture, and explore the island's surroundings. --- Gulangyu Island, a blend of natural beauty, history, and art, is a core destination in Xiamen, perfect for cultural exploration, leisure vacations, and photo opportunities.
Gulangyu, this picturesque pearl of the sea, has long been a dream destination for tourists. Setting foot on this charming island is like stepping back in time, entering a wondrous world of history, culture, and cuisine. Gulangyu's architecture is truly remarkable, a testament to history and a vivid reflection of its diverse cultural fusion. The island boasts a rich variety of architectural styles, ranging from Western influences like Gothic, Romanesque, and Baroque to traditional Southern Fujian architecture. Strolling through the streets of Gulangyu, each building resembles a work of art, inviting pause for admiration. Bagua Tower, one of Gulangyu's iconic landmarks, blends ancient Greek, Roman, and Islamic architectural styles. Its red dome gleams in the sunlight, creating a truly magnificent sight. Standing before the Bagua Tower, one feels a sense of the weight and vicissitudes of history. Shuzhuang Garden is a perfect fusion of Southern Fujian style and Western garden art. Built along the sea, the garden boasts pavilions, towers, rockeries, ponds, and a piano museum housing a collection of precious pianos. Here, you can enjoy the beautiful sea views while immersing yourself in the charm of music. In addition to these famous buildings, Gulangyu's alleys are home to numerous unique old villas. Most of these villas date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when many overseas Chinese and foreigners settled on the island, bringing with them diverse architectural styles and cultural philosophies. These villas boast exquisite exteriors and luxurious interiors, each detail reflecting the taste and status of their owners. Some still retain original furniture and decorations, evoking a sense of the prosperity of those days. Having discussed the architecture, let's discuss Gulangyu's snacks. Gulangyu's snacks are diverse, with unique flavors that are sure to make you salivate. Among them, the most famous is Gulangyu Pie. Made with mung beans, winter melon, and other ingredients, Gulangyu Pie boasts a crispy crust and a soft, glutinous filling that's sweet but not greasy. It's not only a delicacy but also a unique souvenir from Gulangyu Island. Many tourists buy several boxes to take home and share with friends and family. Fish ball soup is also a Gulangyu specialty. Gulangyu fish balls are handmade from fresh marine fish. The fish balls are tender and springy, and the broth is delicious. On a cold winter day, a bowl of steaming hot fish ball soup warms you up. Other snacks like satay noodles and earthworm jelly are also unique and worth trying. It's worth mentioning that Gulangyu Island also has a heartwarming story with Academician Zhong Nanshan. Born into a medical family on Gulangyu Island, his father, Zhong Shifan, was a renowned pediatrician in my country. Academician Zhong spent a wonderful childhood on Gulangyu Island, where every plant, tree, brick, and tile left a deep impression. The tranquility and beauty of Gulangyu Island cultivated his resilience and love of life. Many years later, Academician Zhong Nanshan became a famous respiratory disease expert in my country. In the fight against major public health events such as SARS and the COVID-19 pandemic, he stepped forward and made great contributions to the country and the people.

The scenery on the boat is very beautiful and the overall fun is also very strong. I have been on Guangzhou and other Shanghai boats before, but the culture on this boat is not as good. The entertainment activities on this boat are very motivating. But the meal is just average. I went there late at night and there was nothing to eat. Although there was always food to eat, the variety became very limited.
The night cruise on the Xiamen ferry was amazing! The sea breeze was so comfortable, and the night view of Gulangyu Island looked like it was covered in stars. The buildings outlined by the lights were so charming. You could also watch the light show on both sides of the strait. It was so relaxing to chat in the breeze. It was worth the price of admission!

I cycled the classic island-circling route from Xiamen University's Baicheng Beach to Wuyuan Bay Wetland Park. This time, I skipped the Wuyuan Bay Bridge and ended at Wuyuan Bay Wetland Park. The total distance is a little over 22 kilometers, and some sections are under construction. During the day, I cycled from my Huangcuo Beach accommodation to Wuyuan Bay. In the evening, I jogged east from Xiamen University's Baicheng for about two kilometers (I think I was at Pearl Bay Beach; it was dark, so I couldn't tell which beach it was) before finding a shared bike and cycling back to my Huangcuo Beach accommodation. Riding with the sea breeze and the ocean view was truly relaxing, and the night view was also beautiful. It's worth a ride if it's not too far away.
Xiamen Ring Road is really amazing! On one side is the boundless sea, with waves gently lapping the beach, and on the other side is lush greenery, evergreen all year round. Cycling or walking here will give you a lot of pleasure. There are also attractions such as Hulishan Fort and Zengcuo'an along the way, with no shortage of culture and food.

Xiamen Petronas Twin Towers is absolutely amazing! These two high-rise buildings are like two big knives directly inserted into the clouds, standing underneath and looking up, their necks are almost broken, domineering! The light is on at night, it is like a science fiction film, and the colorful light show is blinding. It is a blockbuster in the circle of friends. The location is also good, the bottom of the foot is Shapowei, next to the Dingao Zai Cat Street, it is super convenient to go shopping and drink. There are everything in the building, five-star hotels, high-end restaurants, net red cafes, even the cinema is a lounge chair, watching the movie while watching the sea view, this treatment is absolutely perfect! The observation deck is more exciting, and the whole Xiamen has a panoramic view. Gulangyu Island and Yanwu Bridge are at the foot. Friends who are afraid of heights remember to support the wall. The most amazing thing is that it has become a landmark in Xiamen. Tourists must punch in when they come, and locals can't help but squint when they pass by. On a sunny day, the glass curtain wall reflects like crystal, and the cloud and mist wrapped around the waist like Xia Xia drama, 365 days of appearance online.
Xiamen, a coastal tourist city in the southeast of Fujian Province, attracts countless tourists with its beautiful natural scenery and strong literary and artistic atmosphere. The Twin Towers, Xiamen's iconic building, has become the city's business card. The Twin Towers, formerly known as the "Shimao Straits Building", is located on Yanwu West Road, Siming District, close to the sea, with a superior geographical location. Its design was inspired by the sails. From a distance, it looks like two huge ships sailing against the wind, with profound meaning. The Twin Towers are not only a landmark, but also a witness to history. It is adjacent to Xiamen University and faces Gulangyu across the sea, becoming a bridge connecting the past and the present. Climbing up to the 55th floor of the Twin Towers, you can stand 300 meters high and overlook the entire Xiamen. The 360-degree circular observation deck allows you to have a panoramic view of famous attractions such as Gulangyu, Xiamen University, and Nanputuo Temple.

[Scenery] Pretty good, with different views during the day and at night. [Fun] Primarily scenery, with evening performances along the Ten-Mile Causeway. [Value for Money] Pretty good, affordable food, plenty of delicious food, and a nice place to stroll.
The most "unconventional" scenic spot in Xiamen is none other than "Jimei University Village", and most importantly, it is free. Jimei is an area dominated by schools, with Fisheries College, Navigation College, Teachers College, Physical Education College, etc. It was founded by the patriotic overseas Chinese Mr. Tan Kah Kee in 1913, with a total construction area of more than 3,000 acres, forming a talent training system from preschool education to elementary school, junior high school and high school, from undergraduate education to master's and doctoral education. Jimei University Village... Here are the "suit-wearing, bamboo hat-wearing" Kah Kee buildings, here is a talent training system from kindergarten to university, here is the encounter of fighting against Japanese aggression, here is the struggle of the rise of overseas Chinese... Entering Jimei University Village, in front of you is an antique archway-style gate built of granite and glazed tiles with flying eaves. The banner of the gate is the four words "Jimei University Village", and the school sign "Jimei University" is hung next to it. The entrance is a flat and spacious stone road. On one side of the road is a long seawall, which surrounds three pools - the Dragon Boat Pool, and there are 7 small pavilions on the bank. There is a row of palm trees on the seawall, with a phoenix tree with bright red flowers in the middle. The majestic and spectacular group of Spanish Gothic buildings is Jimei Kindergarten. The building of the junior high school of Jimei Middle School is like an eagle with its wings slightly spread, as if it is about to fly. The towering bell tower is the landmark building of Jimei. The white stone walls, heavy eaves and green glazed tile roof are the Return Hall. Like a huge ship anchored in the harbor, it is the teaching building of the Navigation College. Each building is unique and distinctive. The Return Garden and the Return Hall are the only ones built by Mr. Tan Kah Kee for his family members returning from overseas, but they were also organized and built by Premier Zhou Enlai after his death. A full-length bronze statue of Mr. Tan Kah Kee stands in the garden, and the stone screen behind the statue is engraved with Chairman Ma's handwritten inscription "Overseas Chinese Flag, National Glory". Going back is the Guilai Hall with a strong Minnan style. The hall is mainly divided into two parts: the hall and the wing room. In the center of the hall is a stone statue of Mr. Tan Kah Kee. On the columns on both sides are hung the couplet written by Guo Moruo: "Aoyuan Museum is better than seeing it once, and Lujiang Jimei Middle School is admired by thousands of people." Dashe, the birthplace of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, has also become a gathering place for Internet celebrities. Various Internet celebrity shops and homestays are attracting more and more tourists.

Zengcuo'an Beautiful Island Tour ⛱️ Historical origin: Zengcuo'an has a history of more than 800 years, originally a fishing village, and then gradually became a village in the city due to urban development. Transformation: In 2000, the opening of the southeast section of Huandao Road, Xiamen Island brought a turnaround for Zengcuo'an. In 2003, Zengcuo'an Villagers' Committee realized the transformation of "village rejuvenation" and transformed into an urban community. Development: 2004-2005 In the year, driven by the tourism boom in Gulangyu Island and the development of homestays, Zengcuo'an attracted the first batch of grassroots cultural creators and homestay owners. In 2006, after the full fishing retreat on Xiamen Island, Zeng Yu gradually became a stronghold for literary youth. Renovation: In 2012, Zeng Yu was positioned as a "Xingtai Culture Creative Leisure Fishing Village", and the overall environment was improved. In 2013, as a pilot in the village of the beautiful Xiamen strategy, Zeng Xuan carried out a systematic transformation of infrastructure. Mature: In 2014, Zeng Xuan became one of the most popular attractions in Xiamen, with a total annual visitor total of more than 10 million. As of 2015, Zengcuo Wenchuang Village has gathered more than 5,000 entrepreneurs and opened about 1,600 creative shops. Cultural Meaning and Cultural Heritage: Zengcuo has retained a rich cultural heritage, such as red brick ancient temples and Nanyang style "Panzai Building", which are valuable historical witnesses. Development of cultural creativity: Zeng Yu's development emphasizes cultural creativity, attracts a large number of artists and young people of cultural creativity, and becomes a gathering place for literary and artistic creation. Community co-rule: During the transformation process of Zengcuo'an, the government, residents, operators and other parties participated, forming a co-rule mechanism, which is an important part of its cultural significance. Design concept: Micro-reform: During the transformation process, Zeng Xu pays attention to retaining the original style and carrying out "micro-reform", and cultural protection and inheritance in the original village form as much as possible. Multi-party governance: Zeng's design concept includes the concept of multi-party governance, and promotes community governance through cultivating organizations such as public deliberative councils, owners' associations, cultural and creative associations. Cultural innovation: While preserving traditional culture, Zeng Xu also emphasizes cultural innovation, integrating literary elements with the culture of southern Weiyu Village, creating a multi-biological urban cultural and creative village. Functional partition: Zeng Yu divided the functional area according to the distribution of specific resources in each area, and found suitable themes for each development area.
Zengcuo'an, an ancient fishing village located in the southeast of Xiamen Island, has now become "China's most artistic fishing village", attracting countless tourists to explore its charm. Entering Zengcuo'an is like walking into a painting full of fireworks. Many red brick houses from the Ming and Qing Dynasties are preserved here, with high dovetail ridges, simple and elegant. Strolling in the five streets and eighteen alleys, the bluestone road has been polished smooth by the years, and on both sides are small shops full of literary atmosphere, selling various handicrafts, special accessories and creative stationery, each of which is unique. Zengcuo'an's food is even more mouth-watering. Here are the special snacks of southern Fujian, such as shacha noodles, fried oysters, earthworm jelly, roasted pork dumplings... Each one is unforgettable. I especially like the shacha noodles here. The rich shacha soup is matched with chewy noodles and fresh seafood, which is a feast for the taste buds. There are also the "Class 2, Grade 3" stationery store and the "See You on a Sunny Day" ice cream shop, which are all good places to take photos and check in. In addition to food and cultural and creative shops, Zengcuo'an also has a rich religious culture. The ancient monuments such as Fuhai Palace and Qiming Temple at the entrance of the village carry the historical memory of Zengcuo'an. Shengma Palace is one of the most distinctive temples in Zengcuo'an. It is dedicated to Mazu and is a place where fishermen pray for peace. The beach in Zengcuo'an is also a highlight. The beach here is delicate and soft, and the sea water is clear. In the evening, the sunset dyes the sky peach-colored, which contrasts with Kinmen Island in the distance, and it is beautiful. Walking along the coastline, the sea breeze blows on your face, which makes people feel relaxed and happy. Zengcuo'an not only has delicious food and beautiful scenery, but also rich cultural connotations. This was once a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, where many overseas Chinese left behind Nanyang-style "Fangzilou" and witnessed Zengcuo'an's prosperous history. Today, Zengcuo'an has retained its ancient style while incorporating modern cultural and creative elements, becoming a vibrant place. Here, you can slow down and feel the tranquility and beauty of the fishing village, or look for unique souvenirs in cultural and creative shops. Zengcuo'an is a place where people don't want to leave once they come.

Zhongshan Road in Xiamen is the heart of Xiamen's tourism district. It's centrally located to Xiamen's major attractions, making it convenient for all kinds of sightseeing. Besides being a popular spot for dining, drinking, and entertainment, it's usually quite busy. Last time, I went there specifically to browse, but many shops were closing down, and the business wasn't very good. Besides Gulangyu Island, Zhongshan Road also has a seaside park near the Zhongshan Road pedestrian street. It's located at the beachfront, where you can see Gulangyu Island up close. I used to go there often, but I didn't know the park's name.
Xiamen Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is a century-old street full of historical charm and modern vitality. It was built in 1925 by patriotic overseas Chinese Lin Erjia, Huang Yizhu and others. It has now become a cultural landmark and business card of Xiamen. When you walk into Zhongshan Road, the first thing that catches your eye is the clusters of arcade buildings. These buildings combine the Nanyang style with the traditional elements of southern Fujian. The doorposts of the arcades are decorated with cloud patterns, and the roofs are green glazed gatehouses, which are full of strong local characteristics. Walking through it, it seems to have traveled through time and space and returned to that prosperous era. Zhongshan Road is not only a museum of architecture, but also a paradise for food. There are all kinds of southern Fujian specialty snacks here, such as shacha noodles, earthworm jelly, oyster omelet, peanut soup... Each one is mouth-watering. I especially like Huang Zehe Peanut Soup Shop, where the peanut soup is sweet and rich, and it is one of the must-try delicacies in Xiamen. In addition to food, Zhongshan Road also has rich cultural activities. Various art performances and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions are often held here. Traditional arts such as Nanyin, Gezai Opera, and Mid-Autumn Festival Cake-Bet are passed down from generation to generation. Walking on the street, you can also see some old shops and time-honored brands, such as the Centennial Tea House and Gulangyu Pie Shop, which carry the historical memory of Xiamen. Zhongshan Road is even more lively at night. When the lights come on, the whole street is lit up, and the arcades appear more simple and elegant under the light. The shops on the street are very lively. Tourists shop, taste food, take pictures, and feel the fireworks of this city. Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is not only a commercial street, but also a living history book of Xiamen. Here, you can touch the historical context of this city, feel the profound heritage of southern Fujian culture, and enjoy the prosperity and vitality of the modern city.

The view of the Ferris wheel on the sea is super beautiful. In fact, I think it should be the most beautiful when the sun sets. I took the evening one and the view was also good. I hope I can take the evening one next time to see the beautiful view of the sea at sunset.

If you have time at least 2 hours, it is good to spend it here. Really enjoyable, and good performance.
Lingling Circus City is awesome! This is simply a happy camp, where men, women, young and old can have fun! The circus performances are amazing ——The foreign actors are all skilled, the flying man can flip better than Sun Wukong, the lions and tigers are as obedient as big cats, and the magician can make your phone disappear with a wave of his hand! The stage lights are flashing like they are free, and when the music starts, the whole audience shakes their legs, which is more exciting than a concert! It is more cost-effective to bring children here! In the animal kingdom, you can watch pandas chewing bamboo all day long, giraffes have necks taller than school buildings, and children can laugh like geese when feeding alpacas. When the floats are parading, clowns chase you to give you balloons, actors wear fairy clothes and high-five you, and your phone album explodes in minutes! The most conscientious thing is that the prices are not a rip-off, milk tea is the same price as outside, and the set meal is full.
