The scenic area, covering a total area of 50 square kilometers, comprises eight sections: Ancient Taoyuan, Taigu Cave, Youzhou Ancient City, Taohuayuan Forest Park, Taohuayuan Square, Taohuayuan Scenic Town, Eryoushan Utopia Cultural Theme Park, and Taoyuan Grand Stage. Integrating karst geological wonders, Qin and Jin agricultural culture, Tujia folk culture, and natural ecological heritage, it embodies the most beautiful pristine natural countryside scenery of China's Wuling Mountain region, inheriting the rich history and splendid ethnic culture of the Tujia and Miao peoples.
The overall scenery is quite pleasant, and it's quite impressive. However, you can't visit Taigu Cave after 5 p.m., a unique attraction in Taohuayuan. At 3.5 kilometers, the cave takes quite a while to explore, and many of the stalactites are dead, essentially waiting to die.
Recently, there have been separate nighttime light events, and locals have come to see them. There's a large square outside the south gate where locals hang out.
Tickets: 100 yuan, with discounts available online (you can enjoy the night view from inside, but you can't enter Taikoo Tung after 5:00 PM. It's one-way, meaning you can only choose between the evening show and Taikoo Tung. Alternatively, a night ticket costs 55 yuan).
Route: South Gate ~ Utopia ~ Taikoo Tung ~ Visitor Center ~ North Gate (10 yuan bus) ~ Wai Shou Dance Square ~ South Gate (parking at the South Gate is recommended)
This is a scenic spot that is well worth visiting, with a very good value for money. I recommend parking your car at the entrance of the scenic spot. After entering the scenic spot, first go to Taohuayuan, then enter the large cave. From the cave, take a 10-yuan shuttle bus back to the upper part of Youzhou Ancient City, walk down along the ancient city, and return to the parking lot. The whole process takes about four hours for young people. Compared with Wulong's Natural Three Bridges, Taohuayuan Scenic Area not only sees the natural stone bridge, but also has a large cave that is not available at the Natural Three Bridges, as well as a beautifully laid out ancient city. It is more cost-effective, and the ticket price is much cheaper than that of the Natural Three Bridges.

The Gongtan Ancient Town Scenic Area, encompassing Gongtan Ancient Town, the Wujiang River Gallery, and the thousand-year-old golden nanmu trees, is a scenic spot that blends natural landscapes with local customs. Gongtan Ancient Town boasts a roughly three-kilometer-long stone street, stilt houses, sloping roofs, and small green tiles. With over 50 distinctive fire-proof walls, over 200 quaint and tranquil courtyards, and over 50 stilt houses of varying shapes, it boasts unique local characteristics and is one of the largest and best-preserved Ming and Qing architectural complexes in China.
Transportation: It is recommended to drive to the South Gate parking lot; parking is also available at the North Gate.
Admission: Free, open-air scenic area.
Although the ancient town no longer resembles its original appearance, it still retains a certain charm. The streets are narrow and lined with antique-style buildings, most of which are homestays offering both dining and lodging. The main specialties are mung bean powder, noodles, and wild mushrooms. The prices in restaurants are a bit expensive. It is recommended to go later in the hot weather, otherwise it will be a bit uncomfortable to climb the hills and hills in the heat. It is recommended to stay overnight here and take a boat tour to see the night view.
