[Scenery] 1. Architectural Beauty • Red and White Radiance: The White Palace resembles snow, the Red Palace resembles rosy clouds, and the golden dome gleams in the sunlight, creating a striking contrast of colors. • Stacked on the Mountain: The palace complex rises smoothly, reaching its highest point at thirteen stories. From a distance, it looks like a celestial palace descending, a magnificent sight. • Golden Dome and Sutra Pillar: The golden roof is clad in gilded copper tiles, and the ridge is decorated with treasure vases and sutra pillars. It radiates golden light in the sun, yet softens under the light at night. 2. Scenery of the Four Seasons • Spring: Peach and apricot blossoms bloom in succession on the plateau, their pink and white blossoms framing the red and white palace walls, a vibrant scene.[^4^] • Summer: The sky is incredibly blue, the white clouds seem within reach, and the Potala Palace is beautifully reflected on the banks of the Lhasa River. • Autumn: The plateau weather is crisp and clear, the poplar leaves in Zongjiaolukhang Park are golden, and the lake reflects the palace and its colorful forests. • Winter: A blanket of snow blankets the palace, and the red and white walls appear even more sacred against the pure white snow. At sunrise, golden light drenches the snow, creating a fairyland-like scene. 3. The Rhythm of Dawn and Dusk • Morning: The first rays of sunlight glide across the golden dome, gilding the entire palace with a soft golden hue. Lhasa awakens beneath your feet. • Evening: The setting sun paints the palace walls a warm orange, and the night lights then illuminate, creating a unique blend of strength and softness.[^9^] • Night: The musical fountains in Potala Palace Square dance to the rhythm, and the illuminated palace is majestic and romantic. [Fun] Best Viewing Spots • Potala Palace Square: Looking up from the front, ideal for wide-angle panoramic views and reflections. • Yaowang Mountain Observation Deck: The same angle as the back of the 50-yuan banknote, offering a classic view of sunrise and sidelight. • Zongjiaolukhang Park: Lakeside photos of the palace and snow-capped mountains framed by the "Sky Mirror" are available. • Nanshan Park: Climb high and gaze out across the Potala Palace and the city of Lhasa, the night view is particularly breathtaking. 5. A Symphony of Culture and Nature • Inside the palace, butter lamps burn eternally, Tibetan incense lingers, and murals, stupas, and prayer flags weave a thousand-year-old faith. • Outside the palace, a constant stream of pilgrims circumambulates, wind-horse flags flutter, and snow-capped mountains, grasslands, and rivers surround the palace, creating a poetic scene of "a journey through mountains and rivers, a thousand turns of dreams, and the emperor's body returns." In short: The Potala Palace is more than just a palace; it is a vast canvas created by the world and humanity—garlands of flowers in spring, azure skies in summer, golden forests in autumn, and snowy veils in winter. Bathed in sunlight in the morning and shrouded in stars at night, it is a breathtaking "heavenly palace" wherever you linger.
As a major tourist attraction in Tibet, it's well worth a visit. Experiencing Tibetan culture is a truly unique experience. The red and white colors are truly stunning, and even the most immersive experience offers a unique perspective.

Namtso is really nice. When I saw the blue lake, I took a lot of photos and videos and posted them on WeChat Moments. My friends liked them. I am 68 years old and I insisted on reaching the surface at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters.
🌟 Namtso: The Stunning and Warmth of the Plateau's Sacred Lake 🌟 Rating: 5/5 Value for Money: 5 | Scenery: 5 | Fun: 5 | Service: 5.0 🌈 Recommended Highlights 1️⃣ Zhaxi Peninsula (Best Viewing Platform) - The lake's color changes with the weather: a jewel-like blue on a clear day, a gray-blue like an ink painting on a cloudy day. Visiting early in the morning or evening is recommended for optimal lighting and shadow effects. - The peninsula boasts popular photo spots like the "Namtso Stele" and the "Welcome Stone," making for stunning photos! (Tip: Wear brightly colored clothing for even better photos.) - Yak rides are available for a fee (approximately 80 yuan per person), allowing you to experience traditional Tibetan transportation. Be sure to bargain with the vendors in advance. 2️⃣ Starry Sky and Milky Way (Night Sky Spectacular) - Choose a cloudless, clear night for a clear view of the stars and the Milky Way stretching across the horizon. Bring a tripod for time-lapse photography. Several Tibetan-style guesthouses within the scenic area offer stargazing platforms. Book in advance for the best viewing spots. 3️⃣ Cultural and Religious Experiences - Mani piles and colorful prayer flags dot the lakeside. You can participate in the lake-circumambulation ritual and experience the solemn atmosphere of Tibetan Buddhism. - We recommend visiting the lakeside Namtso Township Primary School to interact with local children and learn about the current state of education on the plateau. -- ⚠️ Precautions ⚠️ High-Reaction Reactions - Take Rhodiola rosea three days in advance and avoid strenuous exercise before departure. - If you experience headaches or chest tightness, immediately administer oxygen (there are oxygen stations within the scenic area, approximately 50 yuan/hour). Return to Lhasa if necessary. ⚠️ Warmth and Sun Protection - Even in summer, wear a fleece jacket with a down liner during the day, and a thick hat and gloves are essential at night. - Sunscreen SPF 50+, sunglasses, and a sun hat are essential, as the UV intensity is over three times that of the plains. ⚠️ Transportation Guide - Self-Driving: The journey from Lhasa is approximately 200 kilometers, with the first half being on the highway and the second half on dirt roads. We recommend renting an SUV (approximately 1,000 RMB/day). - Chartering/Shared Cars: More convenient, costing approximately 300 RMB/day per person. Drivers are familiar with the route and can flexibly adjust itineraries. - Public Transportation: Shuttle buses are available from the Lhasa North Suburb Bus Station (approximately 80 RMB/person). The journey takes 6 hours, but they are infrequent and do not go directly to the scenic area. ⚠️ Tickets and Shuttle Buses - Peak season (May-October) tickets are 120 RMB + a 100 RMB shuttle bus. Off-season (November-April) tickets are half price. - The shuttle bus takes approximately 20 minutes one way, and you can enjoy panoramic views of the Nyainqentanglha Snow Mountain from the bus windows. --- 📌 Useful Tips ✅ Accommodation Options - We recommend staying at the Namtso Starry Sky Tented Camp. Electric blankets and oxygen tanks are provided, allowing for direct stargazing at night. - You can also stay in Dangxiong County, just outside the scenic area. The accommodations are better and the prices are lower, but you'll need to get up early to travel. ✅ Dining Recommendations - Prices in the scenic area are high, so it's recommended to bring your own dry food (such as compressed biscuits and energy bars). - Lakeside Restaurant Owner

The lake surface is greener in summer, and you can take a boat on the island. The overall environment is clean, tidy and hygienic. Due to the abundance of vegetation, the oxygen ion content is also higher, but you will still be out of breath if you walk fast in the plateau, so you can prepare some oxygen tanks.
Basongcuo is so beautiful, I highly recommend it. Before I came, I saw recommendations on Douyin and Xiaohongshu, and thought the beauty of Basongcuo was filtered and unreal. When we actually stood on the viewing platform of Basongcuo and admired Basongcuo, we found that the Basongcuo in the photos was far less beautiful and pure than what we saw with our own eyes.

The Jokhang Temple came first, and then Lhasa itself. In the Jokhang Temple square, backpackers and believers sat on the ground. For those who came here for the temple's fame, it became a unique kind of encounter. It's said that if you bask in the sun at the Jokhang Temple, all your bad luck and misfortune will transform into bluebirds and soar to the clouds.
The scenic area is conveniently located in Lhasa's Barkhor Old Street. As a representative ancient temple in Tibet, its murals and Buddha statues are truly magnificent. The guide's encyclopedic explanation, which lasted for several hours, was informative. However, during summer, peak tourist season, the temple is crowded and the air circulation is limited, so it's best to bring a portable oxygen tube.

In fact, you don’t need to buy a ticket, you can see the beautiful Yanghu Lake on the way. But if you want to go in and take pictures, you need to buy a ticket. If you just want to enjoy the scenery, you don’t need it.
Yangzhuoyu Lake, also known as Yangzhuoyucuo, Tibetan meaning "Biyu Lake" or "Swan Lake", is located in Langkazi County, Shannan City, Tibet Autonomous Region, is the largest closed inland lake in the southern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and is one of the three major sacred lakes in Tibet. Yangzhuoyu Lake is bright and blue, with rich and beautiful scenery, integrating snow-capped mountains, glaciers, islands, pastures, farms and hot springs. The color of the lake will change with the changes of the light exposure, resulting in different lake colors. Yangzhuoyu Lake has become one of the important attractions of Tibet tourism with its unique natural scenery and rich cultural connotation, and is also an important base for studying the lake ecosystem and Tibetan culture of the plateau.

It sounds like a fantastic show! The scale of the performance, with thousands of people, must have been incredible. You're truly lucky to have been able to see such a wonderful show. The Princess Wencheng show is definitely worth seeing. Highly recommended.
Although there are many adaptations or secondary creations, it is still worth taking the children to understand the story of Princess Wencheng. The performance is grand and the narrative is clear. The whole audience cheered when the snow fell.

The performance of Princess Wencheng is set against the backdrop of Cangshan Mountain and the starry sky. The fusion of Han, Tibetan, and Tibetan opera creates a truly unique experience. It's easy to get a taxi during the show, but after the show, since it's so close, taxi drivers will offer a ride.

The scenery is nice, but the 54-kilometer washboard road from the visitor center to the scenic spot is bumpy and slippery, which damages the car. After collecting the entrance fee, the road should be repaired.
The Holy Elephant Gate is worth a visit. The last day of the Ali Grand Circuit ends at Namtso. Namtso truly lives up to its name as a "holy lake." The Ali Grand Circuit concludes here. P1: Photos of the Holy Elephant Gate scenic spot P2-3: An eagle soaring over the holy lake (unclear what species it is) P4-5: The sparkling blue waters (P1-5 were taken inside the Holy Elephant Gate scenic area) P6: Seagulls soaring over Namtso P7: Three Lives Stone (photos can be taken outside the scenic area) P8: Seagulls at Bamtso

On the way from Linzhi to Tibet, I decided to go to the scenic spot on the spur of the moment and entered at 8 o'clock. As the first wave of guests, there were very few people and the environment was good. It was okay to just wander around.
Kadinggou is simply a hidden easter egg in Nyingchi! Although it is not as famous as the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, it is absolutely cost-effective. The ticket is only a few dozen yuan, and it is worth a visit. As soon as you enter the door, you will be covered with green eyes. The towering trees block the sun, and the oxygen is as abundant as if you have turned on an air humidifier. The most amazing thing is the waterfall, which falls from a cliff more than 200 meters high. The water mist floats on your face and feels cool. Standing next to it in summer is as refreshing as natural air conditioning. Going inside is more exciting- The naturally formed Buddha statues on the rock wall are simply amazing! Especially the "Heavenly Buddha Waterfall", the water flows just down from the Buddha's head, and the rainbow appears when the sun shines. The old Tibetan lady kneels down and kowtows on the spot. The visual impact is amazing. The plank road is built very humanely. The old lady can walk with a cane, and you can pick up wild walnuts along the way. When you are tired of playing, you can sit in the Tibetan pavilion and eat barley cakes, listen to the sound of water, and watch the prayer flags dancing in the wind. You will feel purified.

While Norbulingka lacked the stunning blue skies and white clouds, the moist air made mainland tourists feel more relaxed. Our Tibetan guide, Jiazhen, provided a very detailed explanation, which was a welcome change from a cursory visit. There's also a small zoo within the park, which was a delight for the children.
Norbulingka, a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Site, is located in the western suburbs of Lhasa. Originally built in the 1740s during the reign of the Seventh Dalai Lama, it served as the summer retreat for successive Dalai Lamas. It is a typical Tibetan-style garden. After over 200 years of expansion, the garden now covers 360,000 square meters and boasts over 100 plant species. These include not only common flowers and trees in Lhasa, but also exotic plants from the southern and northern foothills of the Himalayas, as well as rare flowers transplanted from inland areas or imported from abroad. It is truly a highland botanical garden. Norbulingka means "treasure garden." Designated a People's Park, it is sometimes jokingly described as "a water tower, two rows of handicraft shops, and several palaces surrounding a zoo." Norbulingka has gates on all four sides, with the main entrance on the east. The most striking pavilion on the facade is Kangsong Silun. Originally a small Han-style wooden pavilion, it was later converted into a theater. A spacious venue was added to the east, specifically for the Dalai Lama to watch performances. Next to it is Xiabudian Lakang, a venue for religious ceremonies. Before liberation, Norbulingka was merely a "summer palace" for the Dalai Lama and a few dignitaries to relax and unwind. After liberation, it underwent renovations and a revamped look, now home to 49 species of trees, including pines and cypresses, 62 varieties of rare flowers and plants, including peonies and Chinese peonies, and 15 species of birds and animals. The park boasts beautifully maintained flower beds and lawns, exquisite pavilions and waterside terraces, a stage, and wooden tables and benches.
