Hongshi Gorge is located 3 kilometers north of Yulin, Shaanxi Province. It is named after the red rocks on the mountain. Most people might just visit the Corner Tower ruins and leave. My family of three walked around the west city for about an hour. The path was relatively easy to follow (there were some dirt roads), not crowded, and we even saw the archaeologists at work. It was a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed the site and it deepened my understanding of the Sixteen Kingdoms period.
