Located on Nishio-jima Island in the eastern part of Kumejima Island, the Tatamiishi (Tatami Stones) are a nationally designated natural monument and a famous group of unusual rock formations.
The pentagonal and hexagonal rocks, resembling turtle shells, stretch for about 250 meters along the sandy beach.
