Hahndorf German Village Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Hahndorf
This beautiful town makes you feel as though you are in a small German village!
"Wishing well"@Hahndorf Mt Barker, SA
The third time I came to Hahndorf, a century-old German town in South Australia's Adelaide classic tour. Although there is no such thing as the drunken autumn maple leaves, the winter Hahndorf is particularly quiet and leisurely ~
Herdorf German Village of Hahndorf, Australia's oldest surviving immigrant, a famous South Australia Small town. It is said that in 1839, the first group of German immigrants from Deutsche Prussia took the family to the South Australia and settled here. The name of the town of Handorf is named after their leader, Hahn, who has been named for more than 170 years.
When our country is still in spring and summer, South Australia is the opposite of the autumn season, located in the suburb of Adelaide, only 20 minutes drive from the city center, and the car is full of German style. Attracted. Walking on the streets of Handorf, there is an illusion in the blink of an eye that I am coming to Germany instead of Australia. There are many small shops along the street, selling souvenirs with German or Australian characteristics, exquisite antiques, handicrafts and specialties, as well as colorful candy that attracts many girls. The decoration of each store is very hard, there are quaint, idyllic, full of German style, there are many warm little family, but also a variety of styles.
Of course, come to Handorf to taste the authentic German cuisine, the pure taste of German smoked sausage, beer and roast trotters, absolutely Bavarian flavor. After a full meal, you can order a cup of coffee, sit by the window, enjoy the view from the window, listen to the slow shake in the store, and feel the German atmosphere of this quiet town.
Meeting the authentic German village in South Australia
180 years ago, a group of Germans arrived in the Australian mainland not far away, and began to expand in the ridiculous New World. Until today, it is the largest German gathering place around Adelaide.
Into the German village, it seems that you will come to Germany when you turn around, and the traces of German culture will always come in unconsciously. The most worthwhile part of the German village is the main street here, the characteristic blacksmith shop, various hand workshops, the pioneer immigration museum, the German church, the German coffee dessert house, the German restaurant, in short, everything here. They all began to bring the German flavor, walking in between, there is the illusion of lounging in the German countryside.
If you come in the fall, it will be colorful!
