Pair with a visit to the very very small remains of the Alton Prison
Quick stop; not quite sure if there are bodies buried in the area as it is called a cemetery after all. just the obelisk but no individual markers.
Peaceful Cemetery with a Single Obelisk Monument
While in town for my high school reunion, I just had to drive past this cemetery again, to show my wife one of my boyhood memory-sites. I recall taking field trips there while in grade school/scouts....
Nice stop for history buffs
Was a stone monument commemorating Confederate soldiers. No individual grave sites to visit. Nice stop in historic Alton, IL if you love history.
Confederate Soldier cemetary
This is a peaceful little cemetary off the beaten path. Not much to this aside from a large obelisk monument with the names of individuals buried there. There is some free parking available.
A must for Civil War history buffs.
Very serene place. There are no markers for individual graves, but there is a stone monument with the names of all who are buried there.
