Photos of Damrak

Damrak Street is a bustling street in Amsterdam, starting from the railway station in the east and Dam Square in the west. In addition, as Wall Street is to the "New York Stock Exchange", Damrak Street is synonymous with the stock exchange in Amsterdam. Damrak Street is named for the straight section (rak) immediately adjacent to the dam, one of which was landfilled in the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, Amsterdam's stock exchange building (Beurs van Berlage) and some major financial buildings were lined on Damrak Street, so mentioning Damrak Street reminds people of the stock exchange.
