This place is located right in the middle of the city center. There are so many restaurants and shops nearby, and many people always gather around here as sometimes there are some street performance, like magicians, dancing, or singing. Many also like to just sit around and eat some traditional frites :)

ROYAL PALACE AMSTERDAMAt the dam is since 1665 the beautiful Amsterdam City Hall, once one of the eight world wonders. After annexation by King Louis Napoleon, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte, our City Hall was turned into a Royal Palace. And since then it’s also the Palace of our Orange monarchs. You can visit the Palace and you marvel at so much wealth of the Dutch Golden ageThe Dam is actually where it all began for Aemsteldam as Amsterdam used to be called in the old days. The meaning is simple Dam, just a dry spot like a small island at the mouth of the Amstel River and the River IJ. There is a saying that God created the world. but the Dutch people Holland. Because if you pay attention you will notice that almost all parts of the city are islands. Just like the start of the Dam. Can you imagine that not so long ago there where ships moored next to the Dam, at the height of Mall “De Bijenkorf”.
This is a amazing building. build by Hendrik de Keyzer as the city hall of Amterdam. It is one of the first ''civilian" building in Europe of this size. Amsterdam was a republic in that times, governed by regentes, the most influential entrepeneurs and protestants of the city. Inside it is beautiful decorated by Dutch aritst of the 17th century. it is one of my favorites as I was a politician myself I love this history of civil spirit and entrepeurial ethics.
I'm always amazed at the old buildings and architecture in Amsterdam, and visiting palaces are a favorite of mine.
